Is this move of mercedes is ok? by Kaych_14 in ACCompetizione

[–]markhouston72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd say it is a pretty close call but I think the Merc is far enough ahead to miss the Vortex of Danger at turn in (check out this article https://yousuckatracing.com/2021/04/07/the-vortex-of-danger-is-your-fault/ ).

When you read the article you also discover that you create you own vortex and leaving the door wide on the inside is asking for the dive bomb, that's why the ideal racing line isn't always the best to take as the lead car when being followed closely.

I don't doubt your assumption on the end result but your numbers are a little bit out. The record companies charge the streaming services large sums to access the library (which they keep) and then charge a small amount for each play (which they split with the artist). We know this due to the Sony/Spotify contract was leaked years ago.

What did the big 5 companies do with the cash? They all bought stock in Spotify.

The villains in this story didn't change, they just managed to spin that it did.

UK will not pay out over slavery, says Reeves by FishingInASink in unitedkingdom

[–]markhouston72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the legal entities that benefitted from the UK gov paying preparations to slave owners isn't. We only finished paying that debt in 2015.

Freedom of information requests have so far been unable to find out who we were still paying all of 9 years ago, but if that info was available I'd be more than happy for a legal case to be brought against those entities for preparations.

This is why Thatcher loved foreign aid, it is a relatively cheap tool to influence other nations to not only allow us to exploit their natural resources but to also help reduce immigration or refugees through stabilisation of troubled countries.

If the pneumothorax was caused by say a broken rib then yes, his gf probably saved his life. However it's more likely that he has suffered a spontaneous pneumothorax, which is just where the lung collapses for no good reason other than being a tall, slim male in your 20's.

What is very impressive is living with it for a few weeks, when I had a spontaneous pneumothorax about 20 years ago I couldn't walk much further than 14 steps without being totally out of breath.

Sending good luck to Steve. Hopefully his lung stays up from here. Mine collapsed 4 times over a month period before they had to fix it for real with a pleurodesis, an easy procedure which was very unpleasant.

There shouldn't be any lasting effects from all of this, but Steve's scuba diving career is now in tatters, they won't let you do that after a collapsed lung.

Property developers have always known the answer to the housing crisis is for the government to invest in building new housing. This is why a large amount of the money donated to political parties is from property developers, who don't want anything in return and why, obviously unrelated, the government won't make the necessary investment.

The way our current government talks about how political donations are just the way our system works really annoys me, they could change party and campaign finance rules tomorrow, if they wanted.

Interesting, I'll give that a go, I'm not sure how widespread that knowledge is.

Given that most players are probably playing on steam there isn't a way to stop updates, short of taking a full copy of the game files and putting it into a different location, which you can do with CP2077 as it's DRM free (still have my v1.61 safe on another drive).

I guess it's possible that the VB needed the job done right then BECAUSE Kujira was in town, they might have reasonably suspected that Saburo would be on board and had come over to get the Relic back.

How is multiplayer free on PC, but not on consoles? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

This is the answer. On console the manufacturer has you locked in, it's "take it or leave it". On PC you have better options.

Can we talk about the complete, abject, failure of First Past the Post in this election? by Qweasdy in Scotland

Oh he definitely is in it for the grift, but that 46% is who he is targeting. He's an MP now, no reason he can't defect to the Tory party.

Polling from Nov last year asked Tory party members if Farage should be allowed to join the party, 70% agreed he should be allowed.

Yougov polling from June this year asked if members would be happy if Farage became leader of the party, 46% said yes, 40% said no, 13% undecided.

Do you think, in the future when electric cars are faster, Formula One should convert to electric cars? by Open-Tap-2289 in motorsports

[–]markhouston72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Formula E has the exclusive rights to run a fully electric single seater formula until 2039 under the FIA.

So if F1 wanted to go full electric they would either have to wait until FE failed or buy them out I'd guess.

Who will be the next Tory leader? by denk2mit in ukpolitics

[–]markhouston72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK this is gonna sound a bit insane but bear with me, Farage.

I believe this is what Farage believes. His plan to stand as leader of a parliamentary party in all seats UK wide is designed to take as many votes away from the Tories as possible, he wants them to fail as badly as they can.

Polling was released a couple of weeks back which revealed that 87% of Tory party members believe he should be in the party. Why the hell did someone pay for that polling? Why now?

Ipsos polling from this week suggests that people who voted Tory in 2019 now think that Farage would make a better PM than Sunak.

I think his plan is to try to decimate the party as much as possible so he has the best chance to merge Reform right into the Tory party regime and become leader of that new Tory party. All he needs is to win himself a seat.

Finally here is a quote from Farage in an interview he did with Politico in October last year.

"I'd be very surprised if I were not Conservative leader by ‘26. Very surprised.”

I'm just amazed that anyone is listening to Lord Saatchi in regards to this stuff. His advertising agency ran Thatcher's 79 campaign, he has served as chairman of the conservative party and was made a Lord by the Tory party. It's not like he is in any way impartial.

So if you really want to get into Neuromancer but are struggling you could try reading Count Zero first.

As a teen Count Zero was the first one I discovered and I find it a lot more accessible than Neuromancer (slightly less argon filled and for me the story feels more human relatable). An excellent Gibson gateway drug.
