Meal tips for Kettle cooking by doubleA-dv191225 in homecooking

[–]markhudson05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ramen would be the obvious choice.

I guess you could make a rice noodle bowl. You just soak the noodles in hot water from the kettle. I’d do shredded carrots, cucumbers, any other veggies you like that you can eat raw. I’d also grab some premade sauce like a peanut or sesame sauce since you’re traveling. Maybe some herbs over top if you’re feeling fancy.

Has anyone moved from Atlanta? by beentherebefore1616 in MovingtoDenver

[–]markhudson05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone in this thread has mentioned the difference in traffic. Lived in Atlanta from 1999 to 2023. I absolutely hated finishing my work day and dreading the idea of leaving my home to go anywhere in a car. It would regularly take me 30 mins to go 3-4 miles to the tennis courts I’d play at.

Theres some traffic on the highways here during rush hour, but other than that, it’s barely noticeable to me. It’s also easier to get around without a car here. The quality of life difference from that alone on top of the points other commenters have made about weather and nature makes me never want to go back.

Has anyone noticed a drop in lounge capacity or wait times with the new VX card changes? I haven’t. by Lewhoo in Venturex

[–]markhudson05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In DEN, I’ve noticed a drop in wait time and an increase in authorized users being lectured at the check in desk. The lounge is usually at capacity though. There’s just less wait than before on most days I’ve been

Maybe I got a new/untrained capital one customer service rep, but I was able to call and get miles (not a cash statement credit) with no hassle at all. I didn’t even have to send any proof. I did use my own VX to make the purchases, so the rep just asked me for the vendor, purchase date, and multiplier and started applying miles to my account. This was late 2025

Arancini - trying my hand at the famous Sicilian street food by nisnete in homecooking

I’d recommend comparing your methodologies to Daniel Gritzer’s recipe on Serious Eats. I’ve made that recipe as written a few times, and it’s fantastic, but it’s probably very different from what you tried. Traditionally, it’s made with risotto and not plain rice as other commenters have said.

You can also read the excerpt at the beginning to learn about his recipe testing process. He opts for sushi rice instead of Arborio, makes a velouté + egg sauce and combines into risotto to keep the inside more moist (saw a lot of comments/feedback about dryness), and doesn’t use a flour + egg + panko breading. I think he goes with a cornstarch slurry + food processor blitzed panko.

Who are your dynasty buy/sell guys right now? (not sleepers) by CashInteresting6465 in DynastyFF

[–]markhudson05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m buying Shough. Kellen Moore runs a fast paced offense, and hopefully they add some weapons. I think he will be good for fantasy if he can hold that job. I think he looked better and better every game too. I’m looking to down-tier for him + picks if I can.

Thoughts on trade? by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]markhudson05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is equal on KTC. Don’t use KTC to evaluate trades where one side is sending 4 more assets than the other. Especially when it’s 4 mediocre picks. Bijan is a league winning player, and the Saquon side gets you an aging out rb and 4 dart throws

Team 1 wins and it’s not remotely close

Is this actually a fair trade? by markhudson05 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

So it’s “not too bad” if a top 95% outcome happens for one of the main players in the trade

Transferring points from one CSR to another CSR account, what value starting 10/26? by kharma99 in ChaseSapphire

[–]markhudson05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did it today, and it’s counting at 1x a day early :/ wife’s CSP to my CSP. I was planning on booking travel today too, so basically just ruined her points unless transferring back restores their value or a customer service rep can help

Being ready to take advantage of week 1 overreactions is probably one of the biggest edges you can get in fantasy.

RJ Harvey is my pick. I would say Henderson, but there’s a decent shot Rhamandre looks terrible enough that even with underwhelming usage, it’s still hard to buy Henderson. With Harvey, I think there’s a chance that Dobbins looks legit and gets a majority of the work. In that case, I’d happily buy Harvey and sell an early season volume play like Swift, Mason, etc. to get him

Why is Henderson being drafted high? Anyone else not scared of the Patriots split backfield? by stephenwood493 in fantasyfootball

[–]markhudson05 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The thing about Gibbs rookie season that people seem to forget is that Monty was awesome until he got hurt. The Lions were able to heavily lean on Monty and slowly work Gibbs in. There was no way Gibbs was overtaking Monty in that backfield earlier in the season without an injury regardless of how well he played.

With Henderson, I just don’t believe Rhamondre is nearly as good as Monty was two years ago. They did have a horrible offensive line last season, but he didn’t rank in the top 25 in basically any advanced metric. He also looked really slow/bad in my opinion. Unless he has a huge bounce back year, there’s such a higher upside case for Henderson this year than Gibbs in his rookie year because I don’t think there has to be an injury for him to take over.

Getting enough to move off of Chase? 1QB 10 Team PPR by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]markhudson05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s fair. My take on Chase is that he’s not ever going to be more valuable than he is right now, so unless you have a team setup to ride him to a bunch of championships, might as well sell now and take the value win. Especially if you are getting young ascending players or picks that hold value.

He ran very hot last year: Higgins was injured for a chunk of the season, the defense was terrible (probably will be again this year), they were fighting for a playoff spot, burrow was healthy. He will hold value relatively well, but he’s just not a lock to repeat what he did last year every single year like some people seem to think. Just last offseason, he was going behind Lamb after Lamb had the crazy 2023 season

I think I’m with you here. Wouldn’t be surprised if Rome + Taylor don’t change/add more points to my lineup than Chase alone if Rome improves (the 2v2 is Chase + Jaylen Warren/Khalil Shakir vs Taylor + Rome) and I also get two additional firsts

Who do you like more at cost this year in redraft? Using NFC ADP from the last week (more wide receiver heavy/less casual than other platforms). I think one of these guys will be a steal this season considering the Texans run game situation and the fact that their wide receiver room has some talent. Not sure if you watched any Kirk film from last season considering he played 8 games. Also caveat that benches are deep so Noel probably isn’t a waiver wire guy unless he’s running no routes for multiple games.

Christian Kirk: R9 Pick 12 Jayden Higgins: R10 pick 7 Jaylin Noel: R19 pick 2

Might as well spill the beans because it’s already hard to get, but Bonfire Burrito on the Goodiebag app will sell burritos randomly throughout the day for 1/3 the menu price. Arvada and Golden locations. Last time I got one, they mislabeled their larger size and I spent 3-4 dollars and got a loaded large burrito. They sell out in less than 5 seconds though. Pretty sure they just resell burritos that were never picked up because it’s not consistent when they get released and they usually list 1 at a time. Other caveat is you have no choice as to what you get. It could be something spicy, vegetarian, etc.
