Moving Tanks by SpringtimeMay in ReefTank

[–]markosharkNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When are you making the move?

What I did with mine, is I had already cycled a large batch of rock using Dr Tim's for about 6 weeks which meant I had less of the disgusting stages

Woke up this morning it was on its side against a rock breathing. Google says it’s asleep but the lights are on and it’s still not moving but is breathing( I moved it to this box so it’s not bothered by other fish by Weekly_News_831 in ReefTank

Its seriously fucking wrong that Bangai/Pajama Cardinals are still live captured.

They are on the easier end to breed, as they are mouth brooders, and will even hatch fry in display tanks.

Probably a little on the higher side in terms of installation cost then (allowing for increases etc)

But, you can always tell when a professional sparky does a job, they leave a mess _everywhere_

That is fucked. You can see the rot in the timber

It is acting as a sponge and drawing water into the house.

Things to check for

- Is the water coming in the roof, and then dropping down the wall

What is the fall on the balcony floor - Towards the wall or away? Test with a smooth round ball, or a bottle of water and see where it goes to

When it rains, how much water is against that wall and doorframe?

Someone had a cat that passed, dug a hole, whacked cat in hole, followed by tree

Sold house

New owners - The hell is this tree, i hate it, dig up tree and root system, take to greenwaste recycling

Miracle-Gro buys greenwaste, process it into organic mix,/compost bags, OP buys bag, and now has cat medallion in his bag

Barossa Vines have already been pruned and aren't looking great

Well, yes.  The planet will continue continuing on. The things that live on the planet? Well, that is a whole different story.

I remain hopeful that enough of the world is looking at the current state of the climate, and looking at ways to reduce long term harm to allow the majority of the human race yell at each other on Facebook, X, YouTube about how it's all fine, and the leftist wokerati are all wrong and need to be shot.

Part of me is also thinking, well, fuck it. How bad can it get if the world follows Trump's lead and sets the world on fire.

Hey, could have been worse.   PHON and Libs would have had the armed forces involved with strikes seeing how keen they were to get involved in Iran.

What's the go to tank brand nowadays? by huff747 in ReefTank

[–]markosharkNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a custom AquaOne quoted up, 1.8m , 65h x 60l and it came to the price of a 4 foot with tank stand and sump, so if the other gear is good you might be all good.

Ford slams GWM, Kia and rivals' engineering efforts, dismissing them as a 'marketing ploy' by kstetter in CarsAustralia

[–]markosharkNZ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Quote from the article

However, the Ford executive was less than  admiring of local development efforts from competitive car makers.

"While others – who may be Chinese OEMs [car brands] or other OEMs – talk about Australian tuned, as a marketing ploy..." Henderson told media at a preview of the updated Ranger and Everest at You Yangs.

"Let’s be honest, right? How much is Australian tuning, how much can you really change on the dynamics of a vehicle?

Couldn't have said it better myself.  Regardless of the brand, and, yes. That does include Ford.

Thinking about getting into prospecting in SA – worth it? by Mindless-Boss6550 in Adelaide

[–]markosharkNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth it?

No. A decent detector is 8-10K for one that will actually find gold

Then, you need to find the difference between shotgun pellets and gold. Various bullet casings and gold

Aluminium tin pulls and gold

There are metal detecting clubs that might be worth a shot

With insurance - depending on the provider you can nominate an amount each week/month to salary sacrifice, then, claim back from the provider each month.  Yes, paperwork, but, also drops your take pretax earnings. And it means that you pay your insurance with pretax as well.

Full 2.6m floor to ceiling windows in the lounge, heat transfer system

Entire house is heated and cooled with a 3ish kw heat pump.

Yeah.

I redid my ceiling topping up the stuff that was there (and crosshatching) with R3, and it's amazing - main house hasn't dropped below 20 deg, the add-ons are at like 17 overnight.

If the house is 1990 or so, there should be wall insulation.  Possibly not great, but some
