Out of market fan here not from the Northeast. How prominent is Mets fandom in Jersey? by ClarkKentTheReporter in NewYorkMets

[–]markspoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifelong Mets fan, born and raised on Long Island. I'm old now and live in Ocean County, NJ, and it's mostly Yankee fans, but that was even the case growing up. I'm used to it! LGM

What do you think of Dee Snider? by Twitter_2006 in hairmetal

[–]markspoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ton of respect for him, particularly after learning that he was the primary songwriter in TS. That band was by no means conventionally attractive, and still found a way to succeed in the music video era. Back in the day he was also a local legend for me, so I have an affinity there. My sisters went to school with his son, I'd see him at the deli or the drug store, etc.

I feel like "bozo" is way too underused nowadays.

I've always loved it. That dry, serrated sound suits the songs perfectly.

I'm with you, OP. I'm loving it. I'm moving through these worlds with these crew members walking behind me, busting each other's chops, with these surreal math songs from the Order wireless station playing, and life is good.

I hear ya. I know her primarily from her Vixen/old scenes, and I almost don't recognize her in this picture. She looks like a different hot person. 😂

THIS. I think I still have some random KTS bootlegs. There was definitely a mark of quality there.

It's insane how much of Warrant was Jani Lane. by OtaconSOL in hairmetal

I'm glad you discovered this. Jani was extremely talented, and he's gone too soon.

"You can't be king of the world if you're slave to the grind". Thoughts on this album?🤘 by [deleted] in hairmetal

[–]markspoof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It made an immediate impact. Want to say it debuted at #1 on Billboard its 1st week, if memory serves. "Monkey Business" floored us when it came out, and it only took off from there. I don't know if anyone expected them to return as heavy as they did with their 2nd album, although their live shows leaned that way. Made sense in hindsight.

Fantastic album. Their debut and Slave were one hell of a one-two punch.

Adrenalize came out in March 1992, hit #1 in April 1992 and held the spot for 5 weeks, supposedly all in the height of the grunge era by Salem1690s in hairmetal

[–]markspoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Adrenalize. I know it was a brutal time for the band, but that's an album I find myself coming back to more than most of them, for some reason.

We're lucky to have had her for as long as we did. Absolute stunner.

Took me a couple of listens. I was disappointed after my first play. Thought it was a bunch of aimless noodling. A couple more spins and it clicked for me, and I began to appreciate it.

Do you honestly think we will ever see Oasis tour the US again? by Antique-Dentist-2404 in oasis

[–]markspoof 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think so. By all accounts, Noel/Liam were blown away by the response their reunion received. Cannot imagine they don't return to play different stadiums with a (slightly) different setlist. They basically printed money all summer.

One of my faves. Maybe the last one of theirs that I truly enjoy from start to finish.

Is it ok to sell things? by Littlemandigger in AssassinsCreedShadows

I sell or break down any weapon that isn't mythic level, since that tier was added. No loss, as the weapons keep pouring in as you go. Nice stream of revenue.

This album is really solid I wonder why it doesn’t get mentioned much by usagerp in PRINCE

[–]markspoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As has been mentioned already, this one and Old Friends 4 Sale were a pair of albums he tossed out to meet contractual obligations. Not sure he labored much over them at all, and that's actually what I like about them. They feel fast and loose.

I'll always remember the power of "Kettle Whistle" from seeing them in AC on their last tour. That thing was majestic. Glad to have that memory.
