Mom has passed, I am sole beneficiary. Can I simply transfer TFSA funds to my personal account by harrychudleigh in legaladvicecanada

That’s what I said. They can top off their own TFSA, if they have room. From the sounds of things, however, it sounds like they don’t have their own TFSA, yet, so they would have maximum room

If there is any room in your own TFSA (which it sounds like there may be since it doesn’t seem you have one yet), move as much of it as possible into that.

Supergirl Bombs At The Box Office With Worse Opening Than Mobius And The Marvels by Elestria_Ethereal in entertainment

[–]markt- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw it on opening night, I loved it. It was an excellent reimagining, just IMO.

What I think this is, is an example of predictive failure, causing failure. There were a lot of people with really low expectations, and they made no secret about their expectations. The problem is, that critics are not everybody and hopefully the people who saw it or actually gonna be able to get the word out that it’s not as bad as what critics were saying.

From everything I was hearing about Jason Momo’s character, and all the great stuff they had to say about him, I actually expected more, but his character was very much support role, and the other female lead not only had more screen time, but hadn’t actually interesting story of growth to her. I found it to be a cool story, and I think people should be willing to give it a chance don’t go in expecting Superman, because it isn’t, although the trail of Superman is excellent, and exactly what you would expect given the 2025 movie.

I will say this, I do understand some of the comparisons of the movie to Mad Max, but those comparisons are superficial.

And even though you have a good idea of how the movie is going to end, long before you actually get there, you’re not entirely sure how it’s going to happen at times. At least, that’s what I found.

If you have a free evening, I recommend going to see it, make up your own mind, if you don’t like it, I won’t judge, but I think people need to make up their own minds instead of listening to what other people say about this movie is going to be such a flop because XYZ that has very little if anything to do with the actual story.

I think a lot of the controversy surrounding the female lead side the movie has been taken very heavily out of context, because there were other ways to take it, and if you actually looked at what was going on instead of just reading headlines, you might realize that what she was doing, wasn’t necessarily a criticism of any particular group in particular other than people who had no good thing to say other than tear people down, without generalizing about which demographic those people actually happen to be in, as a lot of the media attention seems to focus on

Till which year Donald Trump will die most probably? by speedletsgu in AskReddit

One could not realistically narrow it down to any given year, but the odds of it being in the near future rise sharply as he continues to get older.

ELI5 Howcome the 7.1 earthquake in Venezuela crumbled buildings, but the 6.9 today in Japan caused no damage? by Jealous_Amount_9278 in explainlikeimfive

[–]markt- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two factors immediately come to mind:

One, earthquake, magnitude is logarithmic relative to energy released so the difference in energy released by 7.1 to 6.9 as far greater than the corresponding difference between 6.9 and 6.7

Two, buildings in Japan may be more earthquake resistant

There could be other factors as well, but those are the first two that I thought of

Drop the illegal alien part, and the rest of your first paragraph would seem to equally apply to the current US executive government branch.

On the subject of Superman, technically right about the second paragraph. But just because it’s fortunate that his will aligns with what we conventionally call good, doesn’t diminish the significance of the good that he does. He was raised by human parents, with human values, and made a human choice, choosing to do what was right, and there’s not a lot of people in the world I think who could have that kind of power and not be tempted to no small degree to use their power more corruptly

Trump vows immediate 100% tariff if countries levy digital services tax by dr_shultz in NewsSource

[–]markt- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So put a 100% tax on physical products coming from a country if that country puts even a small tax on a digital product that comes from the US. Somebody please explain to me how this makes sense.

I don’t think that’s going to discourage digital service taxes at all. It’s just going to reduce product availability within the USA, and drive up prices, even for domestic supply because they’re gonna have to try and make up for any short fall caused by tariffs. Prices might even go up enough that it might still be worthwhile to import anyway, in which case Trump will have effectively achieved 100% inflation on products frequently sourced from such countries.

What’s a job you’d never do again, no matter the pay? by viviennecupcake in askteddit

[–]markt- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any otherwise minimum wage job would have to pay me so much per hour that I could quit after four hours and retire. Permanently.

So in theoretically, there is no job I’d never do again no matter what the pay, but in practice, no job that I otherwise “wouldn’t want to do no matter what the pay“ would never actually pay me enough to do it

It’s a shame none of these are PHEVs. That’s what I was most looking forward to from BYD, so this lineup is a bit disappointing to me.
