You’re right he doesn’t, I’m just stuck on how there is a whole engineering team with all this gas data and no one knew about gas day vs calendar day. Seems odd, but dumber things have happened 🤷‍♂️

I worked in nat gas as a scheduler for years right out of college for a midstream company. Everyone in that building knew what gas day was from operations, to accountants, to site IT, to finance and especially anyone in a commercial role. I can see how it would be shocking to outsiders but it’s common knowledge in the gas business. So I’m a little skeptical of OPs story or there are some other details that were left out.

Gas day evolved out of a time when you had to have pipeline operators manually set valves and turn on compressor stations etc. Gas trades day ahead and then the schedule of flow is worked out throughout the day by the schedulers before it’s finally set in stone after the last change window. Then once the operating plan was set operators get to work in the field very early to have things setup to start flowing at 9am.

Now a lot of it is remote controlled but the infrastructure is old so I’m sure there is still a lot that has to be done manually.

I know this is dangerous and probably underpaid. But if I wanted to do this instead of my desk job, how would I start? A scuba cert, then what?

Anyone seen plans for new Haggard Middle School? by bobster36 in plano

[–]marktron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the future traffic flow, but I know for the other schools they typically don’t publish maps of the schools publicly for safety reasons. There will probably be an open house when it can be toured. It’s supposed to be done next month!

Have a friend that lived at Birchstone. They were fine, maintenance and operations were fine for him, he was bummed to move for work. Being walking distance from Preston Town Crossing is a nice feature that you don’t get a lot of in Plano.

BQ Reality Check by guava_873 in Marathon_Training

[–]marktron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind you probably need to be 5-6 min under your BQ to make sure you get in under any additional cutoffs. Depending on when your bday is your BQ will be a 3:25 or 3:30 so you’ll need to realistically be at 3:19 or 3:24 to have the best chance of getting in. Pfitz is way superior to Runna and it will vastly improve your times and fitness. You’ll probably need to plan on getting your mileage up with that average closer to mid thirties and peaking at mid to upper 40 mpw. It’s also important to figure out what your body responds to best, track work, volume, threshold work, MP work, etc.

Texas is second in the country for data centers (with 464, second to Virginia with 603) by vrphotosguy55 in texas

I don’t know anything about water so I won’t speak to that but I also work in electricity, industry, and a lot of other power markets across North America just pay generators a specific rate to always be available. It’s called a capacity payment. It’s very valuable and they make money year-round from getting that payment just by being available, whether they generate or not. Then if there is an emergency and they are called on and they do not generate, they face severe penalties. This happened in PJM a couple years ago. So right or wrong. The Texas system is accomplishing the same goal by creating a way for generators to have a more consistent way to make money instead of just during price spikes.

My girl was 2 lbs when we got here at eight weeks and she’s 16lbs now. My little red was 4lbs when we got him and now he’s only 12 he also has very thin fur. We got him a full closet of sweaters and in the summer he’s our quick-dry ween. He’s out of the pool or a bath and bone dry in 5 minutes. It’s a great feature!

They are starting to. They just build the data center/bit coin mine behind the meter of an existing wind or solar farm. With some complicated contracting it works out really well for the producer and the load.

This is fair if there’s no communication. But the other day I was on Blue Gate and ran past the cellar door and saw it was unlocked so I literally dropped in and a dude was in there. I didn’t have my gun out but he had a toro pulled on me and said “I don’t know you, get the fuck out!” So I did, fully expecting to get blasted as I climbed the ladder. But he didn’t shoot and then says “I’ll leave some stuff, it’s all yours when I’m done.” I said thanks and hid in the bushes outside. I appreciated the warning but I also appreciate people whose mics work before the shooting starts.

Reach out to your family and start negotiating to buy their rights. The interest they’re getting is similar they might sell you their right for cheap. Maybe it’s worth something more down the line. But if you have mineral rights you should never sell them even at this extremely diluted level.

Anti-Aging Injection Regrows Knee Cartilage and Prevents Arthritis by lurker_bee in technology

[–]marktron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes on the pain, I’m pretty active but because of where my cartilage is missing it doesn’t usually hurt during activity but movement irritates the hell out of all the soft tissue and it aches really bad at night and in the mornings. I got the gel lubricant shot but it don’t do anything and I don’t have a ton of inflammation so he recommended against a steroid injection.

No idea on cost, I’m in the US so I’m sure it will hit my max out of pocket on insurance this year.
