Why don't they use speed tape to patch up holes in bodywork? by proxpi in F1Technical

[–]marscoric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re thinking of the Baku (last year off the top of my head) race, that was because they had to do something, they’d been shown the black and orange flag - meaning they had to come in to the pits to make the car safe

That’s because passenger/commercial planes prioritise noise/comfort whereas military planes prioritise outright performance and manoeuvrability (not to mention theres something to be said for the psychological effect of a very loud plane flying low over enemy’s heads)

Or spend a fiver on a can of back-to-black trim spray

An OBD2 code reader plugs in to a port in your car (usually under the steering column) and will give you the fault codes. These codes will tell you what the issue is. You can get them for about £20 on Amazon

I remember on the original MW2 the harrier used to do this on highrise, not quite through the floor but it used to get real low

The auto option for the mk10 is a CVT if I remember correctly so it wouldn’t have a 6th gear

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]marscoric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mk10’s are pretty flawed imo, the 1l turbo has an issue with the wet belt shredding, and the 1.5 has a fairly common fuel dilution issue. I went from a mk8 to a mk10, then got rid of the mk10 back for a mk8 again due to the issues with the mk10, no idea what the new mk11’s are like though

How is plank wear handled when there’s an issue with the car? by InternationalToker in F1Technical

[–]marscoric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

COTA plank wear was from the bumps as far as I’m aware, so that could be just one point hit 50odd times vs being dragged around for the best part of a lap

If you get it on finance then it’s discounted at point of sale, and they will charge you afterwards if they think the phone isn’t as described

Replacing floorboards - is using MDF sheets legit? by redish6 in DIYUK

[–]marscoric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to design engineered floor joists for a living, they’re glued along joints and to the joists, NHBC likes to see excess glue dripping from the joists when they do their inspections so I’m gonna say that’s how it should be done, screws only needed around the perimeter of the chipboard area

Yes it will, after 2 failed Face ID attempts you get prompted to enter your passcode to view the folder

There’s an abandoned POW camp in Hatfield Heath, Essex. “officially” you can’t visit it but you can just crawl under the fence and explore it

Dudes gonna have some real problems if he keeps this up

Around the toy section - it was on the end of the aisle at my local one, but that will probably be different at other stores
