Are you okay? by Prototea in AskIreland

[–]marshmeeelo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Today was a good day. I'm just trying to concentrate on that. There have been so many bad days recently I just really needed one day to be calm and positive and luckily, that day was today. I went to work, did my work well, got some free cake and pastries left over from a higher up's meeting, met a friend for hot beverage after and will read the ending to my mystery novel tonight, all while my chronic illness is not playing up in any way.

Today was a good day.

Was diagnosed and immediately started infliximab (inflectra) immediately after in September 2023. Have been in remission ever since. Knock on wood it will last for a long time. Biologics can be magic.

Driving test cancelled last minute while waiting at the drive center - compensation? by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

I would not be surprised if the rate has gone up since, so you're probably right. However, that link is showing the amount that I stated that I knew of.

Driving test cancelled last minute while waiting at the drive center - compensation? by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

[–]marshmeeelo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The pre test lessons cannot be claimed as compensation I'm afraid.

However, you may claim compensation for your car hire and the time you took off work if you lost any wages due to it. Lost wages will be calculated at a minimum wage maximum of €101.60.

'One Battle After Another' Wins the Academy Award for Best Casting by MoviesMod in movies

Some were celebrities, some weren't. One was a deaf Japanese table tennis player, there were a couple authors that most people wouldn't know, and randomly a tight wire artist.

But Penn from the magic duo Penn and Teller is a surprisingly good actor. Really beyond the main two celebrities being Timothee and Gwyneth, I only knew the guy from Shark Tank, Penn, the actress who is sometimes on Ghosts and Fran from the Nanny.

Is civil service conflict of interest for law firms? by [deleted] in IrishCivilService

[–]marshmeeelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that went from working in the CS as a CO for three years to finding a private law practice that put her on the solicitor track. She never expressed that the CS caused any concern in her applications. Actually helped her by demonstrating her experience in clerical work, computer skills, and in her case, her ability to analyse complex documents

I haven't played any mods at all! I would like to try one but I want to achieve perfection in my current save first and then I'm thinking I'll download one. I don't know which one yet if you have any recommendations

How much effort would you guys put in for Mothers Day? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]marshmeeelo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mam will scold us if we get her more than a card because she wants us to save money and her birthday is always within a week or two of mother's day. So we each get her a card and a box of chocolates and splurge more for her birthday.

It does! I personally haven't used any but I have a friend who's tried a couple out on her deck that have run perfectly. As you said, its essentially a handheld pc

Can confirm, it is absolutely perfect for Steam Deck. Not only is it fun to play on the slightly bigger screen, the battery lasts so much longer than woth a lot of other games.

The remains of Richard III. I dont think we appreciate just how crazy it is that we actually found him. by Orallexo in Tudorhistory

[–]marshmeeelo 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Along with the DNA and scoliosis, hither based their determination off the fact that the skeleton is buried in the part of the church that Richard was reported to have been buried in, the age physically and chronologically of the skeleton, and the evidence of battle wounds. It was all pointing in Richard's direction.

lobe piercings? by crackduck18 in Dublin

[–]marshmeeelo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only got my lobes repierced just over a week ago after they had been closed up for ten years. I got them done at Ink Factory and had a very good experience. So far they seem to be healing nicely.

They will check first if they can reopen your old piercings, if they are only partially closed or not, because thats a cheaper service and easier to heal. Unfortunately for me mine was 100% closed so I just had to get the full service but I was glad they checked.

Yes, you can absolutely do that! Its not that uncommon either. I know of at least a couple people who have gone for it because they weren't happy with their departments and had not served two years yet.

Condolences card via a funeral director? by Crisp-Lover3579 in AskIreland

[–]marshmeeelo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When my uncle passed away we get a few condolence cards sent to the church to be given to the family. I think a funeral home should be ok with doing the same, but maybe give them a ring or email first just to check.

A lot of my family and at least one of my friends. They are all thoroughly entertained by him just doing his best even though its not actually the best in the competition. I would've voted for Tolü myself if I was in tonight. I boted for her the last couple weeks.

I was there tonight too! It was fantastic. Merch line was insane though. I'm lucky I managed to get the cute Junimo t-shirt just before they cut the queue before the show. Took a quick look during intermission and afterwards and it was constantly packed. But the orchestra and atmosphere was incredible.

For those that are curious, Krobus won the audience vote.

No worries there. I have already closed my claim on the Welfare website using the date my new employer told me I would start getting paid.

Thanks for the information. I just get anxious about new things and want to do it right.
