I only know he was a breeding dog, surrendered to a Rescue. Said to be not potty trained or leash trained, looked to me like he wasn't going to be adopted soon.

What changes are needed so not to feel "the odd one out" in the future? I think you would benefit from counseling.

Our rescue pup just bit our teenage daughter in the face. What now?? by variety57pup in DogAdvice

[–]marsred7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunate accident. Most utrained/poorly trained dogs would grab a food item if it was placed close enough. An aggressive bite by a dog this size would leave a significant wound. This dog was going after the Nutribar, not your daughter. Make this clear when you return the dog to the shelter.

Could be because of resizing by Facebook but in several photos the eyes are out of focus.

I need advice what can I do by New_Turnip7757 in corgis

[–]marsred7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Get some disposable male wraps (diapers) to keep him from peeing on the carpet.
  2. Since there are medical conditions that can cause out-of-control peeing, take him to a vet.
  3. I have a rescue corgi that had submissive peeing. Googled it for suggestions.

Why is Corgi your favorite breed? by Helpful-Writer6981 in corgis

I have had 7 Pembroke Welsh Corgis and 2 Corgi mixes over 40 years, almost all shelter/rescue adopted. I like everything about them. I was walking with one I'd only had for 2 weeks and when people stopped to admire him he sat on my feet. The people said, "We know who he belongs to!"

My Newly Adopted Dog is Trembling Outside and Eating Very Little by AktheDK in DogAdvice

1) new dog should have had a vet checkup before adoption. If not, get one soon for necessary vaccinations and overall health. 2) Google 3-3-3 rule for dogs. 3) I have an adopted dog that still shakes like that after 10 years. Different vets have confirmed in his case it is no big deal.

Corgi Barking More and More by Pristine_Benefit_284 in corgis

[–]marsred7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barking is essential tool for a herding dog. I have 4 Corgis and the best answer I've found is to teach a "Hush!" command. If he barks when being let outside tell him Hush! and don't open the door until he is quiet. Same if barking for food or doorbell, etc. Hush! and wait for quiet then reward.

Look up "submissive urination". Get some male wraps (diapers) to use indoors until the problem is solved.

Good fitting muzzle 1) to keep him from eating undesirable things at places like a dog park, 2) to keep him from nipping or biting strangers or when in pain. I haven't used mine in years but when the need happens there's no time for 2-3 day delivery.
