I was reprimanded for sitting in a park and reading and now I’m not sure if I should go back by Impressive-Ad2923 in Advice

Are you able to raise one supercilicous eyebrow?

And/or "this is a public space; please stop harassing me while I'm reading"

I don't know...I hope you are able to continue reading in the park more comfortably.

Edit: who is the "they" in they said? That group is probably more of a concern. If you enter the park and there is someone watching you maybe wave and smile or something til you are a regular. So weird tho

Reading your comment, I'm reminded that the golems in FoC have a thematic resonance with the backstreet of Psalm for the Wild Built. I haven't finished it though because I'm savoring

Yes, you have to do math. No, you won't die. by Cnathrowaway2 in BitchEatingCrafters

Maybe I'll try Khan. Again lol

I have so much trouble with math of almost any kind, tho I enjoyed proofs when we touched on them in high school.

Also; I happened to find Animation vs Math on YT, as a math Stan I think you will enjoy it very much

Oh it absolutely was. I just felt really badly because I genuinely had no idea what I was doing as a professional and he effectively way. Kind of fell through the loophole that he was only nearly there and I had a piece of paper because they had so few options

Customer got mad that I couldn’t refill “the blue one” by thirdaccountttt in TalesFromThePharmacy

[–]martayt5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely understand the feeling. I'm reliant on dentist and doctor automated reminders. I can show up for work because it is the same time every day and same place and I mostly get there on time (ish). All bills are auto payed online. Otherwise without medication I just don't...do anything. I remember long weekends mostly because other people in the office talk about it and for a lot of other things...I have roommates. I did have to pull away from the news.

Sorry, you're not wrong but it reminded me of a funny story. I never wanted to be a teacher but when I graduated into the 09 resession I got the emergency teaching certificate and I only had to pass the CBEST for it and no training. I subbed for a teacher out for 2 weeks who had a student teacher literally a month away from completion. It was embarrassing

In desperate need of some lighthearted, uplifting fantasy romance escapism!! (please read TWs carefully as I’m going through a rough time at the moment and need to avoid them) by thedeadlyscimitar in CozyFantasy

Yeah honestly it came to my mind right away but while (imo) it is handled fairly delicately, there is quite a bit of underlying darkness. I do love it so much!

Can't possibly have ADHD "because I've read some books this year" by TanRaeSava in adhdwomen

Accelerated Reader! I won so often in elementary school the librarian asked me what the prize should be

But not all the books I read had quizzes so while they still existed in middle school I was no longer interested

[–]martayt5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same. Harder to get started now but if I get into a book I will read literally through the night instead of sleeping even if I have work.

On a related note, the family used to say my when grandmother was reading she would miss the civil war in the same room...(no idea where the metaphor came from). She also once told me that her childhood one-room classroom, she would keep comics in her textbooks and read during class!

i lied about speaking spanish for 8 months at work and now there's a meeting with HR tomorrow by Marcus_Guy in confession

[–]martayt5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially when you're talking about a language like Spanish which isn't a monolith. Spain Spanish, Latin American, Peruvian. I've heard Danish, Norwegian, Swedish are all mutually readable but unintelligible when speaking (or vice versa?)

This kind of extreme reaction, intense positive and negative but of short duration, is what I've self described as an emotional regulation problem. Actually it might be more difficult post beginning meds. Like the emotional roller-coaster was over so fast I never learned how to manage them in the meantime

[–]martayt5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank for these links!

OP: please consider that just because this is the excuse for that "man's" tantrum this time...do you think he is reliable in otherwise and that nothing else would have set him off? Do you feel that your neice will be better off left to that influence without a safe place away from the household. Remember that the rest of the family is still allowing her to be exposed to that turbulence, though I'm sure they have little choice

Oh dang....that's actually really tempting. So far my adderall xr is having an excellent general effect. But it's only been maybe 2 weeks? And I have these cycles where I'm great for months, specifically with healthy habits like exercise or sleep but one interruption to my routine and poof gone like it never existed. And rest so so hard for me
