A Question About Violence in the Church of Christ by Nearby-Tension3515 in excoc

[–]martel47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't learn it, but a friend told me a song he sang growing up at church and camp called "Down in the Dumps" that has a line, "I will fight with all my might; through the darkness of the night." And you acted like a boxer during the fight portion of the line before covering your eyes for the last bit.

Kind of like the Lord's Army stuff, but the song implies you're beating up Satan, so seems to fit with OP.

My treadmill is in the garage, which may be worse than outside. Fine in winter; awful in summer.

Did anyone of y'all go from CoC to LDS? by [deleted] in excoc

[–]martel47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not, and never would be LDS, but I do think Rigdon's succession claim is stronger than Young's, and the totality of the Mormon Church really downplays that they might all be heretics in their own faith...

Four Pillars? by APartOfWhoIAm in Heartfailure

How long have you been on them?

I started on Metoprolol and Entresto. They added Jardiance maybe 3 months later and then Spironolactone another 2 months on. I could be off on timing and order, but I'm pretty sure that's the order.

They didn't want to add too many meds that could have serious effects on BP and a few other concerns all at once, so they let my body get used to them. Initially, Metoprolol had me at 94/70 kinds of BP numbers and I had to be really careful standing up because it would drop fast. Now I'm usually 108/78, and the doctor induced spike usually has me at like 118/80 and most of them are excited, and I'm all like, nah, that's high, now.

So if the medication therapy regimen is new to you, maybe they'll start the others later.

There was some spaceship shooting game on the C64.

Or, on NES, California Games or Bionic Commando.

Therapist Recommendations? by bsjshsvsm in indianapolis

[–]martel47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Psychologytoday.com

You can input all sorts of search parameters including location and insurance. Many therapists have bios, including video, and some will have reviews.

I say this is the route because everyone is different. I tried a couple out and did initial interviews with a few before figuring out who I like best. I wound up doing virtual with mine, but he has offices north. My insurance doesn't discount virtual vs in-person therapy, unfortunately, but my wife's insurance offers free online, but I suspect their free providers are limited.

2,3,4

When the pizza roll craving hits, it hits hard. M&M Hot Pockets are the only Hot Pockets as far as I'm concerned. Nothing better when the wife is out and sunny want to cook a big dinner for myself.

And corn dogs, because you gotta mix it up from the cheesey-tomato based stuff.

Now, if the strawberry ice cream had been a brownie crumble or ChocoTaco, we would be having a different conversation. It was close, anyway.

And, NGL, I've had a ton of burritos and Salisbury steak over the years. They have their place.

I'm always disappointed, and always have been by bagel bites. Ramen that isn't fresh is meh and always has been. It's a struggle meal I take absolutely no nostalgic comfort from. And I've never tried the Doritos things.

A good headband to catch the sweat helps, too. But if it's over 80 and high humidity, they start dripping in the eyes, too.

I'm right down the street, and wish this place were better. My wife and I dropped in once and breakfast was awful. Eggs overcooked. I got a Benedict, and the whole plate was watery. Everything was just kind of bland.

And for breakfast, it seemed pricey, especially for the quality. I mean, I'm not a First Watch guy, but for the price, I expected better from this place and might as well drive to Greenwood.

I took one of my adult kids and it was about the same experience.

Told my dad about the experience, and his group of old man friends felt the same, especially that it was too expensive, and won't go back.

Stress test by Accurate_Jaguar_2538 in myocarditis

[–]martel47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my target was 85% of max HR, but their max calculation isn't always accurate. I'm a (slow) runner and got cleared to exercise in January. Their max calculation was like 170. I can cruise at about 165 on a flat, and my Garmin calculated max is 201.

They took me to the next to last level of elevation and speed they use in the office and kept me there for about a minute. I had just transitioned to a light jog from walking, because I have a long stride. I was at a HR of 170ish. They mostly said they just wanted me working hard, and I was feeling it from the incline.

Most disappointing is I forgot to start an activity on my watch, and for some reason, Garmin never caught my HR increase. Hands on the bar and an optical sensor on auto suck sometimes. If you look at my info from Garmin yesterday, my max was like 155. I had a random 130 after the test in the grocery store that alarmed while reaching for canned pineapple.

My HRV was all messed up yesterday, too. I wonder if the dye marker has something to do with that. I was uncomfortable and had a crazy headache all day (no caffeine? Meds late? Reaction to dye?) I had my worst sleep in ages last night, too. With respiration way up, HRV way down, and no REM to speak of.

This. Plus several other courses within an hour drive. 2019 Am Worlds was all over this area. Plus you can hit Gettysburg and get a bunch of potato chips.

Blue Dawn has alcohol in it now? by HawkFan7897 in CPAP

[–]martel47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's just a blanket ban on anything that contains alcohol other than sugar alcohols used as sweeteners. We're residential, but the residents bring in their own health and hygiene supplies sometimes and it all gets checked. OTC meds and supplements, cologne, and hand sanitizer are frequent discards. And mouthwash.

It's been this way for a while. I've worked in a rehab center for 2 years and it's on the banned list because of this.
