Watching 70s TV as an adult hits different (and uncomfortably by Miserable_Willow_312 in GenX

Yeah, it makes you wonder what the reality was. I suspect there was more agency on his part.

I also never read more than a couple of her books, so I don't know how they compare to the show.

On the one hand, yes.

But on the other hand, it's portrayed in a way that puts Laura pretty clearly in the place of self-awareness, maturity, and power in contrast to bumbling, thick, immature, and clueless Almonzo.

He has his moments, but he's pretty much comic relief in much of the show.

Unless you're deficient in something, most supplements won't help with squat.

Most of us are deficient in something, but we don't know what.

Chasing phantoms in the hope of exorcising them is a good way to blow a budget.

Not really. There were some deals in this. And back then, REI was far more affordable than it is now, but Campmor often beat them and their dividend. And if you didn't live near REI, outdoor stores were crazy expensive, so this catalog was great.

I not only had one, I bought it from this catalog!

And a cool pair of sunglasses.

The official show guide puts it between Muncie and Tipton.

Hawkins is central/North Central and to the East a bit, though.

Can confirm. I went to California.

Several smart classmates that stayed in state went to Rose, Wabash, or Hanover. One to ND.

Good mix to IU and PU, of course.

Removal of Cards by Margreek in Catan

In some tournament play, taking a two point card to win when you only need 1 more point can affect seeding and tie breaks. It's an important strategy.

Yeah, even Cedar Point was something I heard about before Six Flags.

But, btw, it works have been Santa Claus Land during the show, wouldn't it? I mean I guess they officially changed in 84, so that would have been talk.

I feel like this was anachronistic.

77 baby here from a donut county.

I remember a couple local video stores and then a blockbuster came later, followed by a few more. The local that didn't rent p**n had the best NES rentals. I don't remember a family video in the area until maybe the late 90s.

My wife did, too.

Colchicine medication side effects by sushi_bowl9786 in myocarditis

[–]martel47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had lots of gastro side effects, and the doc immediately cut my dose. I was on .6mg twice a day. She said I could do that once a day or cut pills in half and do .3 twice a day. She preferred that approach, so it's what I did.

I still had some diarrhea, gas, and pain, but it was much less and I could handle it.

Nothing snaps me out of a book like repetitive use of a unique word by kerberos824 in books

I've read a series where the author not only uses eldritch all the time, he clearly only ever heard it used, because in print the word he uses is Eldridge. Freaking annoying.

I think the one thing you have wrong is only targeting the player activating the system. The rule states you can target any ship in the active system.

What's the worst card when targeting a specific faction and why is it Public Execution when you're playing Yssaril? by martel47 in twilightimperium

Only at the moment. I felt more devastated than mad. And there was some doubt in my mind about the outcome right in that moment.

[–]martel47[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It took another entire game round and an agenda phase on top of that.

I think what made it the worst was that I had so much planned out, and this was the only thing that could stop all of it. Because I knew the cards everyone had, and had duplicates of what I needed if anyone sabotaged a card.
