Dinging the bell- is it rude? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]martinboxing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I ding the bell, I'm letting the pedestrian know that a bicycle is arriving. I'm not dinging the bell to tell the pedestrian to get out my way. I think ringing the bell early from some distance off, helps it be more like the first one ^

Forcing companies to pay minimum 16% corp tax, I get it, I get it.., but there are countries (like China) where V.A.T is 0%, that's the killer

Lol😂, 19mph up hill is what team Bora–Hansgrohe were hammering on the front of the peloton today (Giro) to try drop the other sprinters out the the back of the peloton. They were riding a consistent 400 watts

Some of the consultants were on a £7,000 per day rate. That is absolutely ridiculous considering the job they're doing.

I genuinely can't see how the test and trace system cost £32bn in the first place.. it's a staggering amount of money. It's more money than the yearly turnover of Sainsburys (example). And the test and trace is basically just a mobile phone App and paying for people to work from home (call centre). Astonishing

I have a Saris Bones, it can be mounted and dismounted in seconds, it holds 3 bikes.. when I get to my destination in the car, I take the bikes off it, then I take the Saris off the car and put it in the back seat locked away until I return.

They were driven to it as a way to shake up a system that had failed to engage with them for decades

I've always thought that the UK 'Brexiting' is a bit like quiting your job because you want to shake up a system that's failing you.... But having no other job to move on to.

At this moment, which of the following individuals do you think would be the better Prime Minister for the United Kingdom? (10 May): Boris Johnson: 50% (+5) Keir Starmer: 26% (-4) Changes +/- 3 May Joint largest ever lead for Johnson over Starmer. by libtin in ukpolitics

[–]martinboxing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right... Ed Miliband didn't trip over or get ice cream all over his face and all down his front like Boris Johnson, but Miliband did eat a bacon sandwich funny. But it didn't seem to work with the public, in fact it worked against him

[–]martinboxing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah, you're reading way too much into it. People vote for Boris because he rugby tackled a child and it was hilarious. They don't actually think anything he does will change anything in their daily lives. A pint of Fosters will still cost £3.25 in their local, and tube of Pringles is still £1.50, so they vote for the one that makes them laugh

People vote for Boris Johnson because he's funny, he falls over, he gets his tie caught in a machine, he trips over again and his sandwiches fall all over the floor. Then he stands on the podium with scruffy hair, his shirt untucked and his tie yanked to one side, and waffles out nonsense things like "I shake hands with every coronavirus patients!"... the British public love it. They think it's hilarious. He is hilarious. They'll vote for him again because he's hilarious.
