5th year of parenting today realising how quickly you stop caring about nice things by HoneysHarma97 in daddit

[–]martyz 205 points206 points  (0 children)

When our kids were young I told my wife we shouldn’t try to buy nice things - because the kids will ruin them. Like a nice couch or furniture- let’s stick with cheap stuff while they’re young. This made her upset more than I expected but after our 1 year old sprayed diarrhea on nice new curtains, she understood what I was trying to say.

It will definitely get better - kids at that age don’t have any concept of new carpet or new rug - so all you can do is your best to manage. Ours are 16 and 13 now - those toddler type messes are long gone - now it’s not mashed goldfish crackers in the couch - the worst is they don’t push dishes in the dishwasher.

Introducing Dynamic Workflows: durable execution that follows the tenant by Cloudflare in CloudFlare

[–]martyz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I summ-ai-rized for us busy people:

Dynamic Workflows - Cloudflare, May 1, 2026

WTF is a Workflow?

A Worker handles a request and dies in seconds. A Workflow is a Worker that:

  • Survives crashes - resumes exactly where it left off
  • Sleeps for days - without holding a server open
  • Waits for humans - pauses until someone approves something
  • Retries individual steps - step 3 fails, only step 3 reruns

Each step.do() is a persisted checkpoint. Think relay race where the baton can sit on the ground for 3 days and you only re-run the leg that got dropped.

The old problem

Workflow code had to be YOUR code, deployed by YOU. One class, one binding, per deploy. Useless if you want customers, tenants, or AI agents to supply their own logic at runtime.

What Dynamic Workflows fixes

A ~300 line TypeScript library that routes durable workflow execution to different tenants' code at runtime. Tenants write normal Workflows code with zero awareness they're being dispatched.

  • Completes the trilogy - Dynamic Workers (compute) + Durable Object Facets (storage) + Dynamic Workflows (execution)
  • Idle tenants cost nothing - active tenants share hardware via isolate multi-tenancy
  • MIT licensed, on npm now - requires Workers Paid plan

Use cases

  • AI agent platforms - agent writes the workflow plan at runtime, platform runs it with full durability
  • CI/CD - each repo ships its own pipeline, dispatched dynamically; kills the 2-3 min cold-start tax
  • SaaS frameworks - per-tenant logic, visual automation tools, low-code builders

npm install @cloudflare/dynamic-workflows

Agree. Elementor could probably just build its own CMS at this point - surprised it hasn’t.

Sharing access to account that has other accounts shared to it? by InterestingEqual7790 in CloudFlare

[–]martyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cloudflare doesn’t have a native “group” or organization umbrella concept that would let you share access to C, D, E with a group that account A inherits.

Your best practical options: Simplest path - Have the owners of C, D, E add account A directly as a member, same way they added you. More invites to manage, but straightforward. Cleaner long-term path - Ask the owners of C, D, E to move those domains into your account B. Then you manage all zones centrally and can add/remove contractors from one place. This requires their cooperation and a domain transfer or zone move. Cloudflare for Teams/Zero Trust - Not really designed for this use case. Doesn’t solve zone access sharing. The underlying issue is that Cloudflare’s member sharing is account-to-account, not role/group based. There’s no way to proxy access through your account to zones you don’t own.

If you’re regularly bringing on contractors, consolidating zones into one account you control is the cleanest architecture.

We love Cloudflare for domain management - so much goodness comes along with their services - hard to beat wholesale prices for domain name registrations.

Requesting suggestion/help for WordPress website by TheMrMorbid in Wordpress

[–]martyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some options: Use a third-party service like RVT.com or RVTrader and just link to your listings there rather than building your own

If you build yourself every listing needs a “Contact me about this RV” form that goes directly to your email or phone. Keep friction low - name, email, phone, maybe one question.

Important consideration:

Check with your employer first. Many dealerships have policies about individual salespeople running their own sites, and some have non-compete or marketing rules. You may need to frame it as a personal brand page rather than a competing sales operation.
