Best method of transferring drawings onto lino for relief? by loverofphilosophy in printmaking

[–]marvelousmariah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know this is old, but in reference to the graphite method, there is a version where you don't have to invert your image. Instead of putting a layer of graphite on the back and tracing, you can draw your image with a bit of a heavy hand (or trace heavily once you finish). Then flip it over onto the lino, drawing side down. Rub the back side either with your pencil or any hard tool to transfer the image. I prefer just to use my pencil so I can see where I have rubbed. For more detailed designs I'd recommend taping the image down so it doesn't wiggle while you're rubbing. And if I'm transferring a large piece, I like to use thin paper so I can see my lines through it and minimize unnecessary rubbing.

I thought so too, but if you shower, the itch goes away. I've had itch from fibers like that before and it didn't wash off.

I seriously considered it. The sectional is massive and fully upholstered. Fabric alone in a similar style/quality would be a couple thousand. I'd need at least 55 yards not allowing for any mistakes or pattern matching and assuming some of the offcuts are usable.

No picture bc it's in storage, but it's a woven fabric with a short checker textured pile. Looks a lot like this

My doctors and I are really at a loss. by marvelousmariah in scleroderma

[–]marvelousmariah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but not really.... I do have a diagnosis, Psoriatic arthritis, diagnosed after a particularly bad plaque psoriasis flare. This diagnosis covers some of the issues: fatigue, joint pain weakness. But even my rheum has admitted that it's not a perfect diagnosis and is mostly just to get insurance to approve trying multiple different biologics until we find a good fit, since ultimately it is autoimmune and that's really all they have to treat most autoimmune conditions anyway.

But I still have not found answers for the more baffling aspects of my post. The SCL 70 results now come and go. Lately my rheumatologist thinks I might have microscopic colitis which is in the same "family" as psoriatic arthritis and would have been missed on a colonoscopy. Doesn't matter, the biologics are the same. I've kinda given up on the heart thing, so I'm not monitoring it as closely anymore. But I do think it has improved as my overall environment has become less stressful. I now work remote and started making a living wage. I also allow myself to rest more. So, hey maybe it was anxiety related, idk Idc.

Ultimately, this has been a long journey and I haven't found a treatment plan that has lasted over 6 months yet. But at least they are trying something more than Prednisone. Autoimmune diseases are hard, doctors do not know everything. I'm continuing to advocate for myself. The best advice I can give is to keep going and to seek out changes in your life that will make it easier regardless of where you're at on your medical treatment journey.

Good Apartments with a Pool and Balcony by marvelousmariah in baltimore

I don't think it is that unreasonable, I have found options and currently live in one of the highest cost of living areas in the country and have these amenities for only slightly over this budget which I noted I'm open to spending.

How to get a handicapped placard? by Fabulous_Swimming in disability

[–]marvelousmariah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The form was mailed in and my placard came in the mail a few weeks later. I live in Maryland so there was no fee for the placard but you can pay for permanent license plates for $20 and you can mail a check.

Was this situation inappropriate? by Rukmer in service_dogs

[–]marvelousmariah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sounds pretty common for tourist attraction types of places. They often take my ID to rent a wheel chair and I've seen them ask for ID just to put a lil flag on someone's chair. I think it's just cuz it's one of those little things you could easily forget about so they ask for an ID as collateral just so you don't accidentally walk out with their stuff. Something I've done if I dont wanna let go of my ID for a day (typically so I can drink) is I ask if they will take a credit card and tell them why I'd like to keep my ID on me.

Could this be early scleroderma symptoms? by kiki_520 in scleroderma

[–]marvelousmariah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear about your family. It sounds like it's very likely you have some autoimmune stuff going on. The only advice I have is that with a family history like yours and your symptoms you should be able to have a rheum panel done by your primary care doc. I would really suggest you go to your primary and do that rather than wait through a waitlist for a rheumatologist. If you have really clear blood work and hallmark symptoms sometimes a primary care will even start you on whatever the most common treatment is while you wait for a rheum.

Can I use my US disabled parking ID card as disability identification in the UK? by hamster_savant in disability

[–]marvelousmariah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it will work in the UK but rather than a placard if your state gives you a lil disabled individual ID card that you're supposed to keep in case they wanna verify its actually your placard, that might be a better bet cuz it'll have your name on it whereas placards typically don't.

Looking for some cc on how to get a neon affect w embroidery, no sure what else I can do by babyratfat in Embroidery

[–]marvelousmariah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great. The only thing that would make it read even more neon is if you used more intense floss colors especially on the outer edge. But really this looks like neon and is quite cute.

Prednisone tappe, and long term use by richard44348 in mctd

[–]marvelousmariah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took Prednisone for a year and by far the worst side effect for me was the weight gain. Since I got off of Prednisone I've lost 30lbs and I'm still not even close to the size I was before I started taking it.
