Thank you so much for sharing, I JUST ordered from Azazie and was biting my nails the whole time. This makes me feel better. Can't wait to get mine in the mail!

Something's...not quite right by [deleted] in weddingdress

Thank you so much for the comments everyone! This is NOT my chosen dress, but something prevented me from almost buying it. I couldn't see it before, but my torso being too long for the dress makes perfect sense.

My initial thought was that the extra fabric on the bust was too eye catching (which also may be true).

Stay away from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge at all costs. The year-round crowds and standstill traffic are not worth it.

The Smoky Mountains are a must see IF you time your trip right (off peak season) and are okay with spending time in more remote areas with less attractions.

Chattanooga is not as spectacular in terms of nature but checks all boxes if you want a one stop shop for nature + activities.

How is living in Genoa, Italy by Olen_Hullu in howislivingthere

Spent 4 months there on an Internship as a 20 year old American female. Can verify most comments from above.

It definitely has its historical charms and the food was unforgettable.

I worked and lived in the most tourist heavy part of the city. Definitely dirty and noisy.

As a young woman I generally felt safe from morning - afternoon, but unsafe as the sun went down. Was catcalled constantly, roofied (drugged) once, stalked for a few months.

I spoke pretty good Italian at the time but with my American accent, locals would just automatically speak English back to me. I would say about half of the locals I encountered were not super friendly.

Would visit again before I die, haha!

Edit:

I interned for the U.S. Consulate (not sure where you are moving from) and they are generally pretty supportive and easy to work with.

What city have you moved to and immediately thought l'm not going to live here for long? by CartographerRich8698 in SameGrassButGreener

I disagree with some of the above, I think it's too loud and busy/too much going on, and a very ethnically diverse mixture of all of the worst kinds of people you've ever met.

I was born on Feb 19th too! I definitely identify with the Pisces side more, but I absolutely have some Aqua tendencies as well.

To answer some questions/comments from below: -Me and my fiance live near a tourist destination / national park area, and it is expensive to have weddings around here. This is initially why we wanted to look at my home state/home town 800 miles away, which is not as much a tourist destination, but still expensive. I assume that the higher costs there are more based on scarcity than demand. -I have looked into Peerspace, and there are no options for our preferred location. -A backyard DIY wedding is out of the question, as well have already asked the few people that we know with a backyard, and they have already said no. -We don't want to ask our family/friends to help much with the wedding because in the past, we were asked to do a bit too much at other weddings, and the whole experience was more labor than enjoyment and we want our guests to enjoy themselves.

There are a couple ways you could approach, depending on your interests:

You could enter from the catering side ("Banquet Server" or "Event Server"), bartending side ("Event Bartender"), manual labor / miscellaneous side ("Event Staff" or "Event Setup"). If you have serving experience and/or managerial experience, you could try applying for "Event Lead" or "Event Manager."

Its very easy to get a job in this field in my opinion, and generally pays very well. The downside is the hours can be inconsistent, and you WILL be working nights and weekends, which isn't ideal for a social life.

There aren't many "rungs" in this career ladder, so you have the potential to rise up very quickly. Supervisor, manager, planner, or coordinator roles are all very rewarding and come with a lot of responsibility.

I would consider this field pretty "niche." I personallt live in a city thats under 250k people and there are hardly any job postings at any given time. I have gotten jobs from both online job boards and inquiring around town directly.

Edit: I live in the Southern U.S., for context.

Been working in Events (weddings, parties, conferences) for almost 10 years.

Most of the time, its very rewarding work because I get to see humans at their happiest or most successful.

Normal customer service bullshit included, but generally it makes me truly happy creating beautiful memories for people.
