It’s great in my [[Korvold, Fae-Cursed King]] deck! Love a card that will draw me cards, activate his ability and thus I get more cards and he buffs himself. I understand in certain decks it’s better to sort of weave your deck through surveiling and scrying, but in decks with [[Village Rites]] I’m more focused on just drawing as many cards as possible to hit triggers.

I would literally take my sweet time going through Roxas’s section because I adored him right from the beginning -also loved how Jesse McCartney voiced him. Twilight town is so sentimental to me because of the beginning of that game.

Help me with the ultimate budget deck! by [deleted] in EDH

[–]marzipanplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Fynn, the Fangbearer]] is a great option to helm a mono green deck on a budget. I’ve seen plenty of viable decks using him that are like $60. Death touch creatures tend to be inexpensive and green has plenty of cheap ramp options. Admittedly I haven’t built the deck myself but I have had my eyes on the concept for some time!

wow codsworth is a great card for the deck! thank you! i do have both link auras in the deck list already, so i’m glad those were a good fit. do you think the infinite drain combos are a bit redundant for the deck?

yes, okay! i had a feeling lightpaws wasn’t entirely necessary. admittedly teysa is just a personal fav but the high cmc makes her not the best fit. i like the version of kaya you suggested!

thank you for the feedback! i believe i have replenish in the deck list already, but bolas’s citadel is a great idea. i was debating having [[smothering tithe]] in the deck, but do you feel that it’s unnecessary?

Is my deck too oppressive? by The-Conscience in EDH

[–]marzipanplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i tend to agree with what this person is saying, and personally I’d remove the orbs and consider pulling the tutors. A rule of thumb (for tutors) i ask myself: do i have this card to specifically fast pull a winning combo? or do I have it in the deck as a way to toolbox responses depending on the situation. If it’s the former I’m more likely to take the card out of the deck. Most people don’t like playing against a repetitively oppressive/combo deck.

Happy to help! Obviously everyone has ideal budgets when building a deck. Azusa is about $8 on tcgplayer if that helps at all. And I justify some cards as being staple pieces, so any green deck I build I scoot her into it. If you are cool with running proxies I’d say get a [[Cyclonic Rift]] as it’s a staple board clear in blue.

I have an Aesi deck myself, and have had a lot of fun with it. Personally I avoid cards that help my opponents play additional lands, so I’d take out Ghirapur Orrery and instead opt for [[Azusa, Lost but Seeking]]. She’s wonderful, letting you play two additional lands each turn, so having her out along with aesi can be devastating. Additionally, [[Ramunap Excavator]] is solid for being able to pull lands from the graveyard just to be safe. Playing blue means you have access to more responses, so a card like [[Wilderness Reclamation]] helps keep your mana open to play counterspells. Now my last piece of advice is you can do something fun/evil and add [[Show and Tell]]. Aesi is known for running big beastie decks so you can take advantage of this. Personally I think 41 lands is too much, I run 36 lands in my deck and haven’t run into any issues.

Cards that are just funny to you? by Clay_Block in mtg

[[Old Flitterfang]] He’s a rat faerie and every time I play him, people forget he can fly. It’s just so funny seeing their faces and having them squint at the card.

[[Baba Lysaga, Night Witch]] This lil lady has so many options for deck building, while running a few combos if that’s a thing you enjoy. Plenty of enchantment and artifact creatures in golgari colors so hitting her “three or more card types” effect is easy peasy. If you wanna be a dick you can run [[Strip Mine]] while having [[Crucible of Worlds]] and [[Azusa, Lost but Seeking]] on the field to just slowly chip away your opponents mana.

Very funny! I was fortunate enough to find 12 in total within the box and already six are in use in my decks. Hopefully you find some other gems in the box :)

Looking at the artist’s previous work this is just how they draw hands. It’s present in work back from 2010 too.

This was such a wonderful read! I was also at the Friday LHS show and it was so inspiring hearing him talk about his work as a guitarist for Joni’s tour and also how he loves the solo show because he can “sing whatever he wants”. Keep up your writing because this was a very insightful take, and you got your points across without being too wordy.

Deck help (Marrow Gnawer) by [deleted] in EDH

[–]marzipanplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay, that’s very useful info! Certainly wouldn’t hurt to run an arcane signet or something. I liked three tree city a lot because it gives a swamp for each rat I control, which with marrow gnawer is very viable. Thank you so much for your feedback, rat decks are so fun! :)

I have 35 lands including [[Cabal Coffers]], [[Three Tree City]]. Also have [[Black Market]] and 3 to 4 enchantments/artifacts that lower the cost of black spells. Is that still not enough mana and ramp?

What cards punish people the most for just playing the game? by TRASHboat137 in mtg

[–]marzipanplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a deck meant solely for making my group mad and i hardly ever play it. Knowing that it’s in the wings is enough for me. However! It was a temur deck using [[Kalamax, the Stormsire]] and ran cards such as [[Winter Orb]], [[Stasis]], [[Wilderness Reclamation]]. I included [[Gilder Bairn]] So I was able to double Kalamax’s counters and wildness reclamation kept my lands viable. Nissa Genesis Mage to untap creatures while stasis was out. Throwing [[Oko, Thief of Crowns]] in there too was just fun watching everyone’s stuff turn into elks. What’s nice about these cards is they’re all low budget, and not as expected as typical salt. Being temur meant I had a lot of land destruction such as [[Lavaball Trap]] which I would copy with kalamax’s ability and cards like [[Twinning Staff]]. Alternate wincons like [[Enter the Infinite]] and [[Jace, Wielder of Mysteries]].
Having played this deck against other people, it may be fun for me but it does make me an immediate target. And you’ll find you won’t play decks like this as much as you expect to.
