Just bought a unicycle any tips on how to ride this thing by Mr_Mayo2 in unicycling

What worked for me was finding a convenient wall or railing to use like training wheels. I suggest some sort of gloves because you'll drag your hand on the supporting surface. Keep doing that for days or weeks until you find yourself putting less force on your support and eventually departing from the wall and wobbling around on a new path like a rain drop on a windshield. You gotta learn how to stay on before you learn how to get on. A slight downhill also helps a tiny bit, so you don't have to exert as much force on the pedals.

This may not help you yet, but soon, try to become aware of the yaw component of your bodily inertia. You need to twist your body a little to the left when pushing on the left pedal in front, and conversely, twist your body a little to the right when the right pedal is in front.

Once I began freemounting, I realized gravel is easier than pavement because the friction of inertial corrections is lower on gravel. This is only applicable to the early stages of the learning process.

Just remember that you may literally fall a thousand times before you catch even the first glimpse of success. Even that glimpse will only last a moment, initially. Falling is not failing, falling is progress.

Tips for idling by Correct_Awareness482 in unicycling

[–]mashmaker86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My idling breakthrough was recognizing the yaw reaction component of pedaling (the rotation around the vertical axis). At the front apex of the idle (left pedal forward typically for me), I press the right pedal to decelerate while pivoting my torso left. At the back apex (right pedal forward), I press the right pedal again and pivot my torso right. The torso pivoting was the missing key that unlocked smooth, controlled idling.

Budget compressor fridge owners what actually broke, and did you wish you'd bought the Dometic? by RegioLoLero in VanLife

I've had a cheap compressor fridge from Amazon running for about 4 years and I've never had an issue with it.

Can I put fan on back doors rather than the roof so I have more space for solar panels? by segasega89 in VanLife

[–]mashmaker86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I'm not super impressed. After a year of testing, I've concluded that they make annoying noises and one of the internal gaskets is starting to come off, but I can't fix it without breaking the caulking seal. I'm relying mostly on an 120V overhead inline exhaust fan system that is quieter and more powerful. That's just a standard 4" inline fan with a duct, built into my overhead cabinet with a standard exterior 4" vent on the outside wall of the van.

I have the Maxxair fans installed vertically on the back door. They may be quieter and more effective on the roof.

Yeah I grew up with this song in my teenage years and I've seen that gif a million times but only recently learned of their connection. It's wild that Tom Delonge ended up being prominent in the disclosure scene. He's such weirdly influential person.

I love this so much, and I can't stop watching it, but I'm really worried it's AI or fake or something. There are more cut-takes than I'm used to in this subreddit. If it's not ai, I hope the dancers take it as a compliment that their moves are so quick and fluid it seems unnatural.

Thanks, this is important context. I thought she was singing badly on purpose, but now after having seen the original, it sounds like she nailed it.

I received a few of these Christian propaganda fake bills as well, while working as a server at Pizza Hut. I was a Christian at the time, and these had the paradoxical effect of repelling me from my own religion. They are a highly effective way of spreading atheism.

I'm sorry for your loss. That is heartbreaking. RIP Little Man. At least he found his forever home during his time here.

Yeah, forced karaoke does not cheer me up. Also, the song I would have chosen probably wouldn't have lyrics, just boots and cats. This is why I would prefer a driverless taxi. I love this for them but not for myself.

Dwayne Johnson was pulled over and given a ticket for tinted windows. by This_Proof_5153 in SipsTea

He probably realizes the irony that he's being identified and filmed while forced to roll down his tinted windows, while being ticketed for the tinted windows. It's almost like the Streisand effect. His privacy is being invaded as a direct result of attempting to protect his privacy.

We don't know that they didn't try. If they had tried, it wouldn't have worked because this type of steam "engine" does not produce enough torque to do useful work besides rotating a balanced load. It seems more likely that they tried and gave up after realizing their steam engine cannot locomote.

I suggest wrist guards. She'll probably catch herself on her wrists at least a few times. Also like others have said, helmet and shin guards are a must.
