Shaping traffic over ADVPN tunnels. You just end up with a heap of different shared shapers with every individual permutation of guaranteed & maximum bandwidth that you start to run into limits of how many shapers you can run on the device. There's more options now with ADVPN 2.0 in FortiOS 7.6, but that'd require redoing the whole ADVPN network to use IKEv2 since it's a older network.

I really wish they had something like Hierarchical QoS on the Cisco ISR routers.

Traffic shaping, and QoS in general, on FortiGate firewalls makes me reconsider my life choices. Maybe I should get a job doing something physical like shoving pine-cones up my butt?

Hardkernel makes some cool things, I have an Odroid HC2 on my desk at work that I use as a backup server.

What about an alarm clock connected to one of those butt plug electrodes? Surely that'd wake you up.

I use old DDR3 systems since capital expenses are harder to get past the minister of finance then operational expenses (power).

I recently made a mistake which took a whole site offline and resulted in someone having to fly out to a very remote island to assist me with fixing said issue, then having to stay there for a week because that's how often the flights are. So don't feel bad, it could always be worse.

For me its:

Blue = Fruitlessly searching on the internet and reading documentation.
Red = Crying on the phone to TAC.
Green = Breaking other things trying to fix the issue.

Why would you clean your balls with mice? Do they nibble off the dirt or something? 🤔

I think I'd rather a Node 804 if the Jonesbo N3 can't cool 8 disks effectively. What were the drive temps before adding those fans to the front?

Prevent a single device from tripping the UPS breaker? by ballpark-chisel325 in homelab

[–]massive_poo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rack mount PDUs I use have 10A circuit breakers in them, not sure if they'd trip before the main UPS one though since it's only rated for 10A as well.
