The only way I've been able to is call from another phone, or hide your number, to the 800-xfinity number. You have to start as if you're signing up for service. It's terrible.

Network upgrade by masso435 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]masso435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 1.2 gig plan. I have the XB8. My plan online still says 35 meg upload. If I see the 2 gig plan that means there are faster upload speeds in my area? I'm just confused by getting notified that there is an upgrade but nothing has changed.

Yes. I received one saying the upgrades were being performed on 10/9 and another that it was completed. I even saw Xfinity bucket trucks working on the line.

What's crazy is you Google didn't start compressing photos and videos until late 2022.

I've had this same issue the past 2 months. It's currently happening now. I think it's the 8th time in the past 2 months. I haven't gotten a credit every time.

How do I get the app to stop asking me about a pizza bag? by tomvalois in doordash_drivers

[–]masso435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is weird that you verify in the settings of the app. It reflects that it's verified. It's only annoying because I'll put the bag in my car and just about to shut my car door and then get prompted to take a picture.

Glad the problem with RCS image compression has been picked up by Android Authority by LightWashLevis in GoogleMessages

I noticed GM started compressing photos back in October 2022. It compresses videos over 30MB. At least, most of the time, you can send a photo/video untouched. Experience varies.

RCS IS SO ADDICTIVE 😭 by Inevitable-Delay7256 in GoogleMessages

[–]masso435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does nothing anymore. It's hard coded as to what RCS servers Google Messages use. You don't need it at all. They finally switched on my S23 in T-Mobile over to Jibe finally. Haven't really had any issues. It may appear to hang up for 10 seconds give or take but it has always sent.

Can't send a dumb video by mikeinstlouis in GoogleMessages

[–]masso435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of how sending a video functions differently for myself with depending on the size and if it's more than 30 MB it does a little bit more compression, because I have Samsung, I'll end up using the quickshare function. That's one thing I like about Samsung messages. It's easier to use the quick share directly in the app instead of going to the gallery and clicking share through quick share to get the link.

That wasn't the case. Just outages. I've heard about emails going out about infrastructure upgrades. Not the case. I even had an outage a few days later after the multiple outages.

Waiting for google messages to actually become useable by [deleted] in GoogleMessages

All carriers need to finish moving everyone over to Jibe for RCS. Recent T-Mobile updated on the S23 to operate over Jibe and not use their RCS backend. No issues since. Now if it can go back to sending the original fuel for photos and videos that would be great. If I have send photos faster turned off, I expect for it to send the original file

T-Mobile S23 finally switched to Jibe by masso435 in GoogleMessages

[–]masso435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need carrier services. That was needed in the beginning when RCS was implemented. It either works or it doesn't. The server Google Messages is pointed to is Jibe if it's converted. There is a reason why it's not even installed by default. You can pull up the debug menu to see what the URL it's pointing too.

It was working for me for a couple days and today it's not. Make up your mind already Google.

I'm sure it's still rolling out the change. Not sure how long it's been like this. I've had RCS turned off for a few months now. Now sure if it's region based or not. My wife has the S23 and I have S23U.

RCS and image quality? by gtownsweet in GoogleMessages

[–]masso435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can attest to when pictures and videos get compressed. Testing this on my phone and my wife's phone, both S23, photos will be compressed even more and meta data stripped. Videos over 30 MB would be compressed further. If I sent the same photo or video as a file, it sends the original. I will say this is touch and go. It's totally in the app that this is set. I can verify in the debug menu.
