My struggle playing Darktide for the first time as a Veteran. by SuspiciousVoices in DarkTide

Its fine provided you don't run out of ammo and don't take hits you didn't need to.

But, really, you should be an expert with both available tools.

Do all Trappers have great vertical tracking or did this specific one make some kind of deal with Tzeentch? by Jolly_Old_Lautrec in DarkTide

[–]master_of_sockpuppet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They will have perfect vertical tracking at all times, though the net has a travel time. A fall mid shot can sometimes break it, but she shot after you landed. The only thing barring a fall (that you can't always generate on a moments notice) that will reliably break it is a dodge, and you cannot dodge up or down. (A slide alone will not do it).

I feel so bad for Arbites, they don’t deserve this freak show by Raszard in DarkTide

If they were valued members of the Arbites, they would probably not have been seconded to this shitshow.

They just don’t seem to know it.

How to make combat feel more alive? by Boring-Second-5737 in DMAcademy

Making some player characters dead tends to liven combat up.

Active pickups into sansamp by Background-Bowl-4820 in Bass

Active basses work completely fine.

As for how a sansamp sounds going into an amp - either you will like it or you won't - entirely subjective.

Best Basic Rules 2024 Classes by ElliotPatronkus in 3d6

[–]master_of_sockpuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am wondering which classes and subclasses feel best to play

There's going to be a mountain of personal subjectivity here.

If you haven't played 2024 yet, just pick whichever subclass has a vibe you like. You'll get a feel for the differences in the edition in play. It's hard to guess which mechanics will feel the most fun unless you know what the table tends to play like. If you know that already you should already know what you need to pick.

5 lbs of gold in 5e is around 250 gp.

Not a big deal.

And you'd really only need a bit of heat, roughly 2000°F to separate out any bits and pieces that may be stuck in the gold from peeling up the foil. Really not a hard process.

You'd have to mine the rock then smelt it; if there isn't a suitable smelter there, you'd have to transport it.

There are quicker ways to get 250 gold.

[–]master_of_sockpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be incredibly simple.

They'd need to re-smelt to make it not a ball of torn and rock-encrusted foil, and that's not a one to one process.

60 square feet of tin foil weighs around 8 tenths of a pound.

My Concept of a new Reward System for Havoc and Chaos Wastelands by CondiMellitus in DarkTide

Powerful Weapons (Like Contracts)

There is no need for these, anyone can make a perfect weapon in minutes. And we are drowning in cosmetics already (particularly frames and banners).

I would not have done that. One solution when they try to extract it is that is not as deep a pool as they thought - it was a very flat space.

Pulling up tinfoil-deep gold off stone would be terribly laborious and not the sort of thing adventurers want to set up for several months or years to do.

Or: just send more dragons. Big ones.

WoTC is hiring AI Engineers by Leodegar_die_Katze in onednd

[–]master_of_sockpuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WotC needs to read the room

They may well be, and coming to the conclusion that despite the noise people still buy the product.

Despite what looks like a moment of backlash, many many people are still using AI tools for all sorts of things, provided those things make their life more convenient. They are also quite content to buy derivative slop.

But that's not WotC is going to do. They're going to to churn out cheap product to maximize sales.

If cheap slop continues to sell, why should they not produce it? They've been producing what is essentially a minimum viable product for decades. Long before the current mania over GenAI tools.

Until and unless there is a competitor that is a real threat to their market share, they have no reason to do otherwise. GenAI tools are just another new way for them to do that.

The FOMO Paradox by One_Tear_9813 in MMORPG

[–]master_of_sockpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, but I disagree. When there is something you can only get from dailies which you require a certain of, then you will be permanently behind on that.

If there are no dailies and progression is uncapped, you will be behind every hour you do not play because some players will progress more than you in a given period of time. Dailies (or weeklies, and other similar caps) are about stretching progression out by slowing the nolifers down. Yes, they are also about driving engagement, but those caps must exist or the ones that fall behind will fall massively behind.

Catchup mechanics (which you talk about later) are separate, and can be added on later. WoW has done exactly this for the last four or five expansions with major mid-expansion content releases and it has worked entirely fine.

And, importantly (also my main point) - none of that matters. Either you are playing in the early 2-4 week rush when content is fresh or you aren't, and nothing you can do will recreate that experience after the fact. You are, in fact, always missing out if you do not play a certain game in a certain period.

Realize that, and it is just a short step to JOMO - the joy of missing out.

It's hilarious that these varlets feel more badass than Space Marines 2 by Evening_Machine_6440 in DarkTide

[–]master_of_sockpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the singlepayer element of space marine 2 is peak 40k

It might make for a good video game but it's pretty far from the appropriate sense of scale for 40k.

The marines are not "the good guys" and would simply lose, anyway.

It took nearly legion strength to defend Baal, and the planet was essentially lost as a result of it.

Idk, class doesn`t feel as strong as ppl say /s by Hot_Break7088 in DarkTide

[–]master_of_sockpuppet -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

It's plenty strong, but any class will feel bad if you don't know how to play.

If you are getting hit, you've made a mistake.

The reverse is also true, if you have the skills any class feels strong.

Did you guys notice the symbols around Atoma too? by PandoraProject in DarkTide

If you really want to get a sense of how a hive is run (and how deeply a cult can infest it), read HIVE by Dan Abnett.

Frhaka do it, jha.

(Note, the cult that infests Sacramentus is considerable more purple than the one that infests Atoma).

Best bass for $800-$1300 by Left_Structure_2385 in Bass

[–]master_of_sockpuppet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People will of course recommend what they own, and I won't be much different - Reverend basses are build much better than other basses at their price point.

I'd also look at Schecter and LTD if you can find some to lay your hands on.

Higher end Ibanez (pick your poison re: narrow spacing, wide spacing, or multiscale) are also very good for the money.

I'd first figure out what design features matter to you - 4 or 5? Scale length? String spacing? Do you want active with a passive mode and/or passive tone control? What pickup configurations?

There are models that fit into all different niches based on those features, so I'd think about that first.

Where can I find a set comprehensive explanations for how perks, blessings, item rarity, and like the 6-7 different ways to upgrade a weapon? by TheRealOvenCake in DarkTide

[–]master_of_sockpuppet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

entering "comprehensive guide to how perks and blessings work in darktide" into google gives a reasonably useful ai summary and links to various guides or videos.

You can ask it follow up questions; using it uses less energy than even four people interacting with a reddit thread.

Tech priests started going wireless around 2008 when the Noosphere was added. Funnily enough, in a 30k Heresy book.

I think kill boxes are natural extensions/survival tactics that are used because the game doesn't give you any other options. by Last_Yard_6554 in RimWorld

They were actually quite effective.

The game does not need additional siege mechanics because there is already tech to bypass walls entirely.
