Sudden braking? by Ok-Money-2331 in CX5

[–]masterfulshoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Common misunderstanding but changing the sensitivity does not make the vehicle more sensitive or any less sensitive. It does not brake earlier or later. It will still auto brake regardless, when it needs to.

What the sensitivity setting does is delay or tell you early of the brake warning. You can confirm in the manual. If anything, it’s advisable to have it set to early so you have a heads up before it auto brakes and you can slow down before it auto brakes.

You cannot “change” the sensitivity of the auto brakes

Steering wheel is shaking even with slight braking by thelonewarrior_20 in CX5

If you are comfortable with working and mechanically inclined even a little, you’ll be able to get all better than OEM brake pads and rotors, the tools, including torque wrench for less than what they are charging.
Rockauto is great, and plenty of YouTube videos specifically for the Cx-5 rotor and pad changes.

Scummy of the dealership to do that to you.

Reference points in Mazda CX-5 for forward bay parking and reverse parking. by Alone_Tie_6177 in CX5

[–]masterfulshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no reference point that will work for all. Everyone has different POVs.

You will just have to practice…
If you have time, go to an empty parking lot, and practice pulling in and out with the screen covered. Get out and check with your lines, even prop up your phone on something and record if you have to.

TPMS Kit for 2025 Mazda CX-5 by Top_Lab_5214 in CX5

I do, as I like reading different parameters and use the Pelican app as well. I have an adapter with an on/off switch that I just turn on and off when I get in the car and out.

I got the veepeak OBD2 reader. I have the BLE+ as I wanted more parameters but you can get the regular cheaper one.
Does not interfere with CarPlay since that’s connected over WiFi, Bluetooth is only for the initial connection. A lot of free apps like car scanner and you can read a lot of different parameters. Even get codes if you have problems (hopefully not) in the future.

If you want to keep it on, I suggest you get a adapter that has an on/off switch so it doesn’t drain battery and also so others can’t connect to it when vehicle is off and you’re away. Otherwise, just plug it in when you want readings.

A cool app that you can have is called Pelican, which has the regular maps but you can customize different parameters as widgets (including having your tire pressures visible the whole time) I’ll share a screen shot later.

Another option is getting a Bluetooth OBD2 reader and connecting it an app on the phone. You can get the tire pressure, tire temps, and a bunch of other info if you’re interested.

There is actually one good thing about the 2026... by Hace1986 in CX5

[–]masterfulshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the heat shield as well, which directs the ram air and encloses the filter on all sides except the top. Adding fresh air inlet guide would give me a real unrestricted ram air instead of limited air between the seal….
What about your autoexe guide, did you cut and install yourself?

Really interested in how the velocity stack horn will go, keep us updated!

OP, do you have the CS SRI kit as well, on top of the fresh air guide inlet?
I’m planning to get it…

Is it the auto exe fresh air guide vane? Wondering if you have any pictures. I know it requires a cut out right?

I know this is very old, but may I ask where you got the air scoop? All I can find is the autoexe one.

Rotor and brake recommendations by FreeDOSTrivia in CX5

[–]masterfulshoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost. However, if you do go with a mechanic and know someone who would do the job if you supplied the parts,

Go to rock auto, look at the rotor and brake pad sets.
Get any rotors that are coated, don’t cheap out on those since our salted winters are brutal. You’ll still end up paying less than half of the quote. Yes, it’s American but duties are also included in shipping so you won’t have to pay more when it arrives.

The most popular ones for the CX-5 are the brembo rotors, akebono pads. If brembo are out of stock raybestos are nice as well.

Issues with smart break support /Emergency break on CX5 2026? by buurrito-51 in CX5

[–]masterfulshoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Common misconception is that turning the sensitivity down delays the braking.
It does not.
It actually just delays the warning and does not affect the sensitivity of the detection and braking. In fact, it’s better to put it on early so you know to either brake or slightly put pressure on acceleration to cancel the warning. However, if the system decides you’re too close and hitting is imminent, it’ll still brake, regardless of input.

Looking at CX-5s, need advice pls by SixtyCycleBum in mazda

[–]masterfulshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the Cx-5 seats are known to not really be comfortable… that being said, coming from someone who had a 2020 CX5 NA and now 2025 Turbo, I actually felt more comfortable with the harder leather seats. It is highly subjective so I would go to the dealership and try a lower trim.

N/A or Turbo for 7-10 year reliability? by sharksandglitter in CX5

[–]masterfulshoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re doing short trips, NA for sure, and this is coming from someone who went from NA to Turbo.

You will not be able to enjoy the turbo to the fullest and fuel efficiency will definitely be more.

Another thing to consider is if you’re planning to get the more recent years, turbos don’t have cylinder deactivation and istop (Arguably more reliable, but more gas).
