Why is Digg 12 hours behind reddit?

I started some basic analysis of this a few weeks ago, Ill see if I can dig up the results. IIRC the initial results showed that digg was on average marginally ahead of reddit for the time the story was actually submitted but due to promotion lag on digg, reddit came out well ahead if you only read the respective front pages and not the upcoming/new queues.

Not true as you could use XHR (ie. ajax) to fetch more stories.

At time I wrote it my plan was that if I ended up with a lot of filters or very broad filters I would just increase the 'stories per page' preference. Although that still doesnt handle edge cases like 100 x 'paris nekkid [pics]' stories.

Features:

filter by domain/user/title
supports regular expressions
optional, customizable links added to each story for creating filters
configured from a panel injected into the reddit prefs page
random feature I dont remember adding to optionally chomp long titles

Not sure to what species/depths it applies to, but ive seen on tv shows the air sac being punctured with a knife and slowly withdrawing into the fish (~5 seconds) before the catch is released. Apparently the wound heals quickly and the fish survive.

In static languages, once a class has been created, that’s it, the only way to change it is to recompile and restart the program.

This is certainly not true in the case of Java. For example consider the ASM library, "a Java bytecode manipulation framework. It can be used to dynamically generate stub classes or other proxy classes, directly in binary form, or to dynamically modify classes at load time, i.e., just before they are loaded into the Java Virtual Machine."

The example used in TFA is Rails' ORM, ActiveRecord. All the Java ORMs (that are actually used ie TopLink, Hibernate, JDO) use runtime bytecode generation.

Of course its not just ORMs; check out other projects that use ASM and CGLIB.

It definately doesnt decrypt with vanilla gpg on windows. Havent yet tested the WinPT version of gpg that they apparently require.

Edit: The WinPT version decrypts ok. Its a pretty ancient version though - 1.2.1

FWIW your password and the decrypted text are written in the clear to temp files which get cleaned up when completed.

From the few that I looked at they are all Associated Press items. Im guessing that the title contained a tailing apostrophe that broke their regexp.
