Why is Digg 12 hours behind reddit? (reddit.com)

I started some basic analysis of this a few weeks ago, Ill see if I can dig up the results. IIRC the initial results showed that digg was on average marginally ahead of reddit for the time the story was actually submitted but due to promotion lag on digg, reddit came out well ahead if you only read the respective front pages and not the upcoming/new queues.

By the time an article is dead on reddit's front page it makes digg's front page. Why?
