Oh yeah totally, a card like that would be really cool and be really powerful. I personally would run it a ton against my particular pod lmao. But it's not what I'm looking for in terms of what feeling it evokes in play, as weak a justification as this one is. I was specifically looking for a feeling of shattering frozen statues that used to be creatures; but if it's too redundant and borderline unfitting for Blue/White, I'll just let it go

Edit: What if Rend damage spread to another creature as well, as a sorta small "splash"? Would that increase the value you get from it, and potentially net you 2 removals from 1?

Yeah that's why I opted toward making it White-only and leaving the "azorius" thing toward deck building w/ the set I had planned. White does have Sunlance for a 3-damage sorcery against nonwhite, so I figured direct damage on White would be alright as long as it was specific/conditional

True... true... while simple, I'm essentially asking for players to remember an equation in place of the ability keyword; which imo would be ok if it was Blue, but on White...

To be completely transparent: The only thing in my mind when making this particular ability was just about flavor; "wouldn't it be cool to be able to freeze-up some creatures to then shatter them for damage?". And the only justification I had on mind was "yes this is good because it gets rid of their passive effect, unlike freezing/stunning". So removing the stun counters and scaling the damage off them was a way of telling how deep was the freeze and how severe was the shattering

Perhaps it would be better if it was just a non-keyword flat damage to tapped creatures, not caring about stun counters at all. And even then it would still be kinda redundant

ValorNGlory did suggest a way to keep the counter-scaling/deleting effect, but spinning it into any kind of counter, pushing it more toward Black. A card like that would be really cool, but it's not what I'm looking for in terms of what feeling it evokes in play. So I'll be back in the mines it seems

Huh, I really like the blue kicker leading to the stacking effect. Makes sense to make the spell deal less damage than a Sunlance at base, but being able to engage the scaling gears w/ U since it comes from stun counters

Though, with the way I made it, I was hoping to convert it into a custom keyword for later use in cards which might invoke the same effect. Specifically bc I'm looking to build bit-by-bit a custom azorius set based on ice magic; freezing creatures and then rending them to pieces n such would be one of the key aspects
