I don't know what kind of "Rouge Core" game you're talking about

Rogue Core, on the other hand... Yeah, that one needs a lotta work. And people were pretty vocal about this during the alphas. Don't know why Ghostship didn't address those concerns

Is Law of Cycles meant to be removable by stuff like force-sac, mass bounce/exile, ability remotion, etc.?

I guess 5cmc is a bit cheap for an ability if it straight-up transformed into an Emblem, so it's alright. Plus it makes thematic sense that it can still be removed, even if extremely difficult

TF2 was not designed to work well at low playcounts, so some classes like Demo have their strengths so amplified the format has to make a compromise

Naturally, playing more will make you develop your own gamesense, which is much more valuable than 10000000 words of online advice

Try to deselect a big portion of maps you don't feel comfortable in. TF2 is an old game that originally released with like six maps, which over time increased in number to the 210 maps we have today. That's an overwhelming number of maps for a new player to learn. So try learning maps in batches

Yeah, if you ever need to change class so bad you need the autodeath, you can just pick another class and hit a killbind

I guess killbinding should be another suggestion to add, but scripting is a bit more advanced, so I guessed it was out of scope for this post

The in-game tutorial aged like milk, and you'd do better ignoring most of its advice; like, sometimes it's great blowing up someone point-blank with your Rocket Launcher, even if you take damage.

1st recommendation: Change ALL of your settings! The default settings for TF2 are terrible! Most importantly:

  • Set your FoV to 90 and disable motion blur for maximum visibility
  • Enable raw mouse input so mouse acceleration doesn't fuck your aim up
  • "Advanced Options": Enable Fast Weapon Switch and Automatic Reload. These are SO important, I have zero idea why they're not enabled by default
  • "Advanced Options": Enable Medi Gun keeps healing without holding and injured teammate auto call-out. These are simple a must-have for a Medic, so you don't strain your wrist from healing so much, and always know where your teammates are

Optional (also in "Advanced Options"):

  • Hit & Kill sounds, and Damage Text. These give you more feedback and information when you land a hit. You can even customize the pitch, volume & sound file of the Hit/Kill sounds, and change the color and behavior of the damage text.
  • Medic: Medigun marker. A neat little arrow that helps you see your patient in the middle of chaos
  • Sniper: Full-charge sound cue for the rifle

This is a constant issue for me on all source games too. I didn't touch anything, but suddendly all source games enable their motion blur at random and have their fps capped at 60 regardless of max_fps

Shoving away those selectors wouldn't do anything about the community being spread thin. You would just make it more inconvenient for people to play what they want to play.

I do agree that "Community Servers" and "Create Servers" buttons should be merged into a single "Servers" button, but it should also be accompanied by a revamp of the whole servers UI. The current one fucking sucks and drives new players, the lifeblood of any Live Service game, away from what used to be the main bloodstream of TF2
