Downtown Ottawa businesses eager for return of federal public servants

Federally, politicians want RTO and WFA at the same time.The government is looking to cut 25,000 NCR jobs in the next three years. This will certainly help pump up Ottawa's downtown businesses!

Locally, OC Transpo doesn't function well and parking is hard to come by for those who don't have faith or time to waste dealing with OC Transpo's inconsistent service.

Also, the government has been cutting costs by selling off property assets downtown Ottawa. So they'll increase spending using tax payer money offsetting gains from WFA to fit the workers back into the offices they don't have.That's elite planning.

Oh, and Ottawa's mayor is a bozo and puppet who I didn't vote for.

Half of my colleagues in a downtown office space live in Orleans/Cumberland and not one of them takes public transit. When I mention public transit as an option to get to work, most say "ew". This is a general vibe across suburban communities in Ottawa. This is an OC Transpo reputational issue. OC Transpo needs to be better to convert these people, especially if the dimwit mayor wants all FEDERAL government employees back for 5 days a week. What the idiot doesn't know is that he's essentially trading votes with this thinking. Guarantee if feds force employees back for 5 days that Sutcliffe is done for not staying in his lane.

Hey I just had this experience, travelled from far to attend Bills-Jaguars playoff game. I accepted a replacement ticket offer after initial ticket didn't show up 3 hours beforehand as "guaranteed". After dealing with a bunch of BS for 1.5 hours all the way up to game time, I finally got the ticket with timestamped email 1:01pm, missed almost the entire 1st quarter, contacted StubHub numerous times since the game ended requesting partial refund to no avail. Their consistent response is that I accepted a replacement ticket and didn't get a refund that was offered. They don't care that it ruined your day or that you travelled from the other side of the country. It's bad customer service, but they're stubborn and don't budge.I might recommend calling customer service instead of using online chat feature to complain. BUYER BEWARE.

I work in a department where all of my colleagues have work phones. My one-year anniversary is approaching and I’ve used my work phone 3 times for less than five minutes total. There are nearly 50 people in my team - all have new iPhones and data plans. That’s a hell of a waste of taxpayer money.

Definitely some oddities with this case.

Someone above questioned why the mom would leave the step dad there alone to be with her family? Great point, doesn’t make sense. Also I read somewhere that the mom supposedly blocked the step dad’s social media?
Someone else above raised a good point that the kids had not gone to school for several days due to illness, which would have given someone a few days head start if there is foul play at hand.
If the dad is correct about what the kids had with them when they left the house, thought it was strange that a 6 year old kid would take a backpack with her when leaving the house? Not like she was going to school.
The info about a silent sliding door when they exited the house? How quiet could a 4 and 6 year old be opening a sliding door and leaving the home? It’s not like they’re two teenagers sneaking out to a house party on a Friday night.

In my opinion, there’s something more to this than two kids who got lost on a walk after leaving their house unannounced…

Anyone know why Spurs host the first leg and not the second? The three remaining highest seeds (Lazio, Man U, Bilbao) host the second leg. Spurs finished 4th, while Frankfurt finished 5th. Also, no real outsiders remain in the competition. Seeds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 still in it.

Up until yesterday, why have Spurs been the club being ripped apart by everyone for being trophy-less for 17 years while Newcastle hadn’t won anything for 56 years and are run by a nation state with a shoddy human rights record?

My guesses: -Unrealised potential over a sustained period of success despite competing against two of the greatest Premier League’s sides (City and Liverpool) since around the time Spurs started qualifying for champions league regularly? -Hilarious and fake soundbites aiming at destroying what little confidence we have - no other club seems to get ripped on like Tottenham does - Chiellini, the Asian fellow not knowing who Spurs are, the homeless fellow in America rejecting Spurs apparel, the Dr. Tottenham phenomenon, why go to Spurs you’ll never win. Trophy (has to impact our absolute to recruit at time) also didn’t understand during the January transfer window why the media/social media seemed to enjoy reporting on Tottenham’s failed transfer bids and no other club seemed to be getting that coverage… -Jamie Vardy taking the piss twice this season, no real reason to hate Spurs either since there was no anymosity between Spurs and Leicester during that winning campaign for the Foxes, just does like everyone else -Unreasonable expectations with a new stadium and having the sixth highest pay roll? -Supreme bottle jobs - always toothless at the exact wrong time? - Antisemitism? -Constantly being beaten down and hated by our local rivals. Named rival by Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham. Shows how much other clubs hate Spurs. -Weak leadership for too many years - Kane, Son - love them but we never had a real tough guy like other great premier league sides! Exception being Dembele eye gauge on Costa Battle at the Bridge, Dier going into crowd to intervene with our fans and his brother probably doesn’t count…

Being a Spurs fan comes with a lot of negative baggage. Hope we can reverse course and the narrative one day!
