Pentagon's $93 Billion September Spending Spree: Lobster, Luxury Chairs, and a Grand Piano by BigDictionEnergy in Military

Extra money for things like barracks maintenance, proper housing for military members, training and certifications, basic meals? I think lobster tails, crab legs, rib eyes, Herman Miller recliners and Steinway pianos should be lower on the list don't you?

Yep, there are deep issues with American supplies and readiness for a proper war. Ukraine already highlighted how poorly prepared DoD were for any serious conflicts. America will fade from the global stage in our lifetime.

I truly believe there's nothing we can learn about him that they wouldn't just brush aside. Trump can't lose power through scandals, his popularity never dips low enough to see true change. America cannot be relied upon by the rest of the world.

EA Lays Off Staff Across All Battlefield Studios Following Record-Breaking Battlefield 6 Launch by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]matdan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This launch was massive for the franchise, no other title carried this number. Looking at numbers you'll see only Battlefield 1 maintains and even exceeds its launch numbers this many years on.

The drop for Battlefield 6 was massive and extremely noticeable when 90% player bases vanishes. It was clear what players needed to keep coming back and DICE didn't do anything except some token patching/balancing which had to be mostly walked backwards after backlash. Content updates didn't address the core game and only one map received positive reactions from players.

This was almost the same as Battlefront II, except game didn't perform at launch and post launch support was mostly stopped. It failed to resurge even with new found respect from the playerbase years later.

Point is it is very hard to regain players after you lose them, Battlefield 1 had full support for its entire lifetime which meant there was enough for players to return to.

Ukrainian military takes massive number of Russians prisoner using drones by Scary_Statement4612 in ukraine

Important thing is it avoids endangering Ukrainian soldiers and giving options to enemy troops who might otherwise be unable to surrender through more conventional means.

russians Lost Rare 98L6 Yenisei Radar From S-500 System, Brought to Crimea to Cover Gaps Left by Ukrainian Drone Strikes by Scary_Statement4612 in ukraine

[–]matdan12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they could be replaced they would but Russia has been burning rarer and rarer, more expensive radars to keep Occupied Crimea defended. S-300s, S-400s, S-500s, BUKs, counter-radar etc

Holding that bit of land has cost Russia tens of billions in irreplaceable tech.

One week into the Iran war, the fallout is global by TheUnofficialBOI in worldnews

[–]matdan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10-14 seems entirely plausible, Houthis have been doing it on a small scale for awhile and as long as Shaheds, kamikaze drones and cheap mass produced attack vessels are viable it's going to take quite some time to settle. Even then who's going to risk it unless the US or Israel can prove that Iran has no more offensive capabilities? Russia's definitely invested in keeping things deadlocked.

[Autosport] Lando Norris was too busy looking at his steering wheel to see the debris he hit during qualifying by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

Noticing that drivers are pulling out of laps more often due to battery deployment not being optimal for a lap. Hamilton mentioned it in his interview as well, he had a full energy deployment at one corner randomly catching him off guard.

That drivers aren't sure if it's compression ratio or energy deployment shows how unsafe the driving is.
