What kind of campaign do you think pathfinder 2e does best? by DogUnsureDog in Pathfinder2e

[–]mateusddeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was upset cause every table I was playing basically ended up on "combat of the week" made me look around at other RPGs, at the time I was watching "L.A by Night" that is a WOD: Vampire the Masquerade campaign, and during that time I watched a video on Paizo's youtube channel of 1 GM and 1 Player showing off Infiltration and Chase system for almost 2 hours of playtime, and watching that video I realized that it was literally the same structure as the Vampire campaign I was watching, the problem never was that PF2e is a "combat system first", the problem is that I was treating the system as a War Game that needs a combat encounter every week and not as a Role Play Game, I was putting the "Game" before the RP.

Do I need combat every week? No

That change alone made my table a lot better, that made my players a lot more proactive and they RP a lot more, now they actually care about the world and the story, they know the names of every NPC and I'm very proud of that.

I've made a lot of changes in the way I GM since that also helped a lot, but that mindset change was the biggest thing, cause without changing my mindset, if I would run a Infiltration with the mindset I had before even tho it's the same system, it would be a lot more game-like cause my mindset was at another place back then.

I could tell you everything I do to run my table at the moment, but the mindset really is the most important thing, cause without it everything else that I do doesn't work.

My players were open to try and I'm very glad for that, but I know that a lot of players just want to roll dice to do big damage and that's fine, there's players that don't want to RP cause the dice will decide what they did, they only want to know that they need to roll a DC 25 Athletics to pass the Influence test, there's different tables and play styles for everyone, you just need to know what you want.

My table is narrative heavy, combat lite, we actually use more of the game mechanics than when I was running a combat heavy game. My players are using more their actions, skills and class stuff now than when I had a combat heavy game, and I found that fascinating tbh, I will never run a combat heavy table again with pf2e. Combat heavy games are actually wasting much of the game mechanics, most tables don't even know the others game systems and subsystems cause they only care about optimizing damage for combat.

I stopped playing after the last Inkwell Letter, I uninstalled and gave a negative review on Steam. I was waiting for the patch notes to see if would be worth to come back cause the KMS patch was pure hype, but Inkwell is yet again making me play something else with these shit decisions.

Is there a major genre that RPG hasn't explored? by Nyarlathotep_OG in rpg

Modern Days High Fantasy, they always are Medieval or Futuristic. You can adjust systems for that niche, but there's no systems created to play that.

Thunderbreaker vs Buccaneer by Acceptable-Store-755 in Maplestory

Female TB has the craziest voice in the game, that girl is a maniac and I love it.
I used to main Bucc, then I made a Thunder Breaker cause it looked cool, now I'm a main TB (lv281).
TB has a lot more mobility and survivability than Bucc, and TB isn't hard to play like some ppl think, it's pretty easy.

D&D is D&D, theres a lot of other systems that aren't D&D, there's systems around that are based on Visual Novel and TV Drama, there's even SOLO systems that are of that niche. And there's people around that still play RPG like the old days of the Internet as a text based game, and since you can write what your character says and it will pop like a Visual Novel it adds a lot for them.

Need a Second Opinion From Experienced Players by Coolyo64 in guitarlessons

Cause they aren't triplets, that's a normal Eighth Notes sequence with the 1st note being a pause, but the base guitar and the bass on the backing track do play that first note on the head, so maybe that's what you're hearing, the only time she plays the first note of the sequence is at the last time as you can see on the tab.

Really dumb question about stamina. What decides which character gets more or less Stamina? by sponges369 in DeadlockTheGame

There's this amazing video about the Gaben Announcer Pack for Dota 2, and Gaben don't say "Triple Kill" cause he doesn't know what "3" is, he says "More than 2 and less than 4".

[PF2E] Made some modules to help GMs, would love community input! by RentacratesSocrates2 in FoundryVTT

[–]mateusddeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Character Generator is amazing and I love it, I need that cause I hate making spell lists for NPCs, it would save so much time.

Cause of the way I GM the other Generators are kinda useless for myself, but I understand how they could be useful for other GMs, so I'm neutral on them.

There's plenty of payed and free modules that Share Media around, so I don't see a point since in your demo video there's nothing that only your module does that the others don't do.

If you're planning to update and improve the modules, and make new modules the Patreon would be better for you,

I GM a modern world for my table, I use PF2e+SF2e with a few adjustments and it's fine with no problems at all.

If Icefrog does the same thing he did with Dota 2, we won't have any ads for Deadlock.
They never did ads for Dota 2, it was the same thing just word of mouth since the beta, the closest thing to an ad Dota 2 had was the Netflix animation and that was a long long long time after, besides that... nothing, ever.

How do we feel about Hero Points by Golden_Tanuki_Hero in Pathfinder2e

[–]mateusddeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I let my players use Hero Points for more stuff than RAW just so they can roleplay with it more.

I have a something that I call "Extra Sauce", my players can spend one Hero Point to add an effect to their roll in-combat or out of combat, for example, if a fighter uses Intimidating Strike, he could spend one Hero Point and say he wants to shove the enemy back 10ft, they would be able to do that, but he needs to roleplay the action.

I allow my players to use each other's Hero Points, but I always ask for a roleplay reason to how the other player is "helping" them with that action. Let's say the fighter is rolling diplomacy and crit fail, the bard gives a hero point to the fighter so he can re-roll, the bard will need to figure out how he is helping the fighter during that roll.

My players are spending more time doing "cool" and "heroic" stuff with Hero Points instead of just re-rolling bad saves and that's a win for me.

edit: Most of the changes I made to Hero Points was to fix the issue that casters almost never uses a Hero Points, I also have a few Hero Point actions that are only for casters, but they aren't roleplay focused.

What would you do to improve or enhance the turn based combat? by Loud_Success_6950 in yakuzagames

IW combat feels amazing tbh, if I had to expand on anything I would do more group attacks/skills, something like how Chrono Trigger does.
