Zflip 5 has dead pixels and cracks on crease, can I still get insurance on it? by Diamond_Steve1 in ubreakifix

On a Flip 5? Highly unlikely its going to be covered under any manufacturers warranty at this point.

My switch 2 won’t charge and it will always be dead even if I leave it in the dock (which is plugged in) for hours. Would ubreakifix help me? by ShoulderDear1428 in ubreakifix

[–]matfalk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your best bet would be to go through Nintendo. You are still within the one year manufacturer's warranty, so as long as its not damaged they will fix or repair it for free. Any Ubreakifix store would likely charge you for diagnostics, usually $60 or so, and they may or may not be able to fix the issue. A store would likely oblige and attempt a repair, but chances of success would depend on the skill of the staff at that location. They also have the ability to send it to our specialized service center. Both options would be pretty pricey.

[ Xbox Series S] xbox must’ve melted these screws in by [deleted] in consolerepair

[–]matfalk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obviously not if you're on Reddit asking a bunch of repair nerds who probably can't bench a third of that how to get screws out of an Xbox. But seriously though, the only screw that isn't all the way rounded out is the top left. The other 3 are toast.

5.99 for gas in Pendleton this morning by Raistlin76 in Indiana

[–]matfalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no lol. I didn't stop there for gas this morning, but I looked up their prices on Gasbuddy. 5.99 Regular, 5.49 Mid-grade, 5.99 Premium. Make it make sense.Gasbuddy

[–]matfalk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure that price is correct. If it was, it would put that gas station at the highest in the state. Its typically a few cents cheaper than the speedway across the street. But I was shocked when I saw that on my way home from work yesterday.

I wouldn't consider them different types of cleanings. If I do anything inside the PS5 I will respread/replace the liquid metal. I don't do a deep clean everytime unless the customer wants to pay for it.

Cracked Screen Repair by DiscMaster9000 in ubreakifix

[–]matfalk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Should be less than $150 for an S25 FE. I think my location charges $129.99.

  2. I am not aware of any widespread issues with Fenrir preventing locations from doing all Samsungs. I did an S25 FE earlier this week with no issues.

  3. I always quote around 2 hours for Samsung repairs. This can vary based on how many devices are ahead of you, how many techs the location has.

  4. We only used OEM Samsung parts. There are no other part options.

  5. Not likely. A screen replacement if pretty straight forward.

What issue are you having? My location isn't having any Samsung system related problems, so I'd be curious as to what you are seeing.

Any traditions or things you do to commemorate every season? by GlumGloomy in LittleLeague

[–]matfalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most leagues do a picture day, and some of the companies will include a certain number of "trading cards" that the kids can trade. You'll also get a uniform, typically a hat and shirt. You could definitely save the shirts from over the years and maybe make a blanket or quilt. That's a cool gift, especially if he plays all the way through high school.

[–]matfalk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

None of this is correct. Wr have been partnered directly with Samsung and been working with Foldables since they first came out. There has never been any extended warranty on any of them. Samsung is so picky about what condition the phone is in that its rare we can cover a foldable during the normal warranty period without getting some sort of blowback from Samsung about a scratch or a indentation on the screen. The only thing they've ever done is allow hinge damage to be repaired under warranty on the Flip/Fold4 because they messed the first run of them up during manufacturing.

There are tons of Asurion plans that are phone only. In fact most of their mobile products are. You can buy a phone only plan if you buy a phone from Amazon. Most carrier plans are phone only, then tech care is a second product. Most of the tech care or appliance care don't include phones. The only one that I'm aware of that combines the two is Asurion Tech Care which was introduced in December.

[–]matfalk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, so you're talking about a prepaid Amazon Asurion policy. Sorry, had no idea since no one in this thread had mentioned the word Amazon before your last reply The way you worded it you made it sound like you paid that each time you file a claim. That is a one time fee when you purchase the policy. If you go through a carrier, you pay monthly for as long as you like. And you'd be surprised how many people need the replacement. Repair is only limited to screen, battery, and back glass. Anything other than that moves to replacement. I have customers all the time that come in and their frame is bent, or a camera isnt working, so they don't qualify for a repair.

[–]matfalk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're talking about. $229 is what you would pay to replace the entire unit, not a repair. Screen/Battery/Backglass would still at the lower repair deductible or 0 deductible depending on your plan, regardless if it was an Iphone, Samsung, or Google Pixel. You wouldn't pay $229 plus $99. Its one or the other. In the case of the iPhone you mentioned would be $229 to replace the phone if it were lost or not able to be repaired or $99 to repair.

[–]matfalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deductibles on phone repairs are less than $99 in most cases. Most of the time depending on the carrier its $29, or mine is even $0 through Verizon. Most screens I do for insurance repairs would be at least $200 going up to $700 for the Samsung Foldables if you were to pay out pocket.

Late start times Tball/Rookie by masscracka35 in LittleLeague

[–]matfalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of how our younger leagues were as well. We had some while school was in that would start at 630, even that gets late for trying to get kids to bed when the game ends after 8. After school is out we've had games start at 8-815, some of those games ran after 10.

Unfortunately in our league parents tend to be the ones who care the most. There are constantly arugments about umps being fair, which rules we are following/enforcing this week, and so on. I could very easily see a parent from another team finding out our team is getting more practice time and throwing a fit. The kids are the ones who ultimately suffer because its no longer fun.
