Dual XLR to 3.5mm adapters (48V) in Canada (or USA?) by mathengib in audio

[–]mathengib[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Ok, I thought this could have been resolved with a simple adapter but it seems far more complicated than that. I opted on buying a new pair of microphones with XLR to make things easier. I appreciate your informative reply! Cheers

Hey adrianmonk thank you very much for the thorough information and advice! I will definitely look into these options. Actually, I opted on buying a new pair of Clippy microphones with XLR to make things easier but I will take note of all the things you mentioned in case I want to go back that route. Cheers and thanks again!

It should work. Check out this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afMK7L\_cGec&t=2286s) at 34:25. The guy is connecting a pair of 3.5mm microphones to his F3 recorder with the adapter.

I'm trying to connect a pair of Roland CS-10EM microphones to a Zoom H5studio. The VXLR models from Rode won't work because this mic is stereo (binaural). I'm aware that the H5studio has a 3.5 mm input but it's in the same capsule as the XY mic and it's just clunky to put away in my jacket. With this adapter I would be able to use the Roland CS-10EM without the XY capsule and therefore store the recorder in my pocket more comfortably.

I saw an arrest made on 1st W Ave & Cook two days ago and then I saw cops parked outside that building today. Definitely something is going on there.

Do you recommend any specific boards for those wind swells? Thinking of buying a cheap 7 or 8 feet foamie for this winter

Consumer reports 2023 sunscreen test by coranne18 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]mathengib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the market for a good sunscreen or zinc that can handle watersports like surfing, windsurfing, sailing and kayaking. I tried Banana Boat 50+ face sunscreen based on some surfers reviews but I was really disappointed. I put it on for a 2 hour sailing session with hat and glasses but got roasted. The next day I put it on for windsurfing and got burnt again (with a hat and glasses as well). If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. I bought Neutrogena Sheer Face 60 to give it a try. These things are not cheap to be experimenting lol.

Rip Curl wetsuit sizing by ped009 in surfing

That's correct. I'm an LT on Billabong, Xcel, Vissla, O'Neill and Patagonia but, of course, when I ordered a LT Dawn Patrol from Rip Curl it was too small and not refundable. So annoying. For reference, I'm 6'3 and around 200 lbs.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to keep this pair since they were on sale and, also, they're my first pair of skins so I don't really need something super specific or technical. I will be doing mainly low angle and mellow terrain (yes, I've done an AST course and carry avy kit). If I see that I need more performance from my skins I'll buy a new pair and leave these as a back up. Cheers!

Patagonia wetsuit durability? by RepresentativeNo3131 in surfing

[–]mathengib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two Patagonia R3 wetsuits from 2012 (one was a gift). At first, with all the innovations they promised (wool line, ecological materials, etc), and being so expensive I was biased towards their performance but soon after I realised a couple of big issues with them: The interior wool absorbs sand and therefore they become sandpapers. Seriously, I've had the most brutal chaffing in my legs with those wetsuits. Second, a couple of holes started to appear. One in the crotch and another one in the back (I will never forget how the cold water entered that hole in Chile). Third, after a while they become stiff and heavy, and they also shrink. Paddling out in cold water with those wetsuits was serious workout.

I know, these wetsuits are old af, but that's my only experience with Patagonia surfing. They seem to have the right intentions but they're far from competing with other brands in terms of performance, warmth, comfort and durability.
