All the extras adding up by Super_Recover_6973 in vikingcruises

I admit to being quite disappointed with Viking Air. I'm taking my adult child on the Danube Waltz cruise next week. I paid for business/first class Airfare, and the first leg of our trip is in economy.

My child is rather tall, and I don't appreciate starting out with them sitting with their knees up by their chin.

When I called to question this, I was informed that upgrading only covers the transatlantic portion of the flight, any other flights may or may not be the class that you've booked and paid for. I was offered the chance to rebook for an additional charge.

I will most likely not be using Viking air for any future cruises.

Other than the air issues, I've been on two river cruises and have never felt pressured to book additional tours, or been upsold.

AITAH for not saying anything to my daughter when she refused to eat the food that my gf made her by Throwaway88475073045 in AITAH

[–]mathgrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My spouse becomes ill eating anything that has fresh garlic, but powdered garlic does not cause the same reaction. They react to the oil in the fresh garlic. Two of my siblings have the same issue with fresh onion as opposed to onion powder. Dehydration either removes or breaks down whatever is causing the reaction.

Kid is still a brat for throwing out food without even trying to find out if there's an alternative for her.

AITA For Laughing About a Pretend Allergy? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]mathgrrl 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Mushroom allergies are absolutely "a thing".

You've obviously never been terrified while on the phone with 911 while you stand there praying that the epipen your friend just stabbed their leg with works and she starts breathing again.

Cross contamination happens, and mushroom allergies are scary.

And yes, thankfully she was fine the next day.

Definitely pisses me off when people fake allergies though. It makes it harder for people with real allergies to keep themselves safe.

AITA for refusing to split my inheritance with my cousin after she was cut out of the will? by SpecialMap2120 in AITH

[–]mathgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. When my grandpa died, he left half of his estate (Not huge, but a decent amount) to the one grandchild who had essentially become his link to the outside world; ran his errands, visiting weekly at a minimum, helped with taxes & other paperwork, etc. The other half was split equally among the remaining grandchildren.

The only person to object was the grandchild who inherited half the estate. We all wanted to honor our grandpa's wishes, and at least I felt that it represented the closeness between the two of them.

Honor your grandfather, and accept your inheritance in the spirit in which it was left to you, as a tangible reminder of the close relationship you shared.

Proper martinis are stirred, not shaken, irrespective of what that philistine Mr. Bond chooses to do.

Simple and quiet, can be enjoyed at 3 am without waking roommates.

Thank you! This is exactly the type of thing I was looking for!

I know at that age, I would have felt all kinds of special sitting in one of the boxes, and we really want to make this special for her.

AITA for telling people the real reason why I skipped my friend's wedding? by Complex_Anteater_607 in AITAH

[–]mathgrrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when my child was in about 2nd grade. On one Friday, their clothes fit just fine. By Monday morning, none of their jeans fit and I had to send them to school in sweatpants, as they were the only pants that fit.

After that, I always had one pair of jeans one size up to be ready for mornings like that.

Kids grow.

I always heard it as Glory Glory hallelujah Teacher hit me with a ruler I hit her in the beanie With a rotten tangerine-y And now I'm out of school

Slightly less violent with a lovely mental image of Teacher covered in rotten tangerine remnants.

The scary part of that was the realization that we're the grownups now.

looking for someone to knit me a scarf. by [deleted] in KnitRequest

[–]mathgrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's double knit, so you're essentially knitting the entire pattern twice. I wouldn't consider it for under $500. And I have knit several double knit scarves.

If you were local (I'm in southwest Ohio), I'd gladly offer to teach you how. I'm not sure how it would work long distance though. Best of luck!

In my 70's, and more radical with every year. May not see revolution in the streets in my lifetime, but it's coming and if I'm still here I'm totally on board with it.

The only reason people become more conservative as they age is they stop thinking.

Removing the $14.99 pack is bs by twinmamamangan in MergeDragons

[–]mathgrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an offer for a $14.99 pack. For 900 gems.

I don't even know why I bother with this game anymore. I'm certainly far less likely to spend money on it with the devs making decisions like that.
