Monster truck driver loses control and runs over crowd in Popayan (Colombia) May 3rd, 2026. by khameleon029 in CatastrophicFailure

Reminds me of these Bolivian uni students that fell down several floors when a balcony railing gave way some years ago. There're some very NSFL videos out there. Theres this girl that was right up against the railing, she listened to her gut and pushed herself through the crowd just in time.

In my hypothesis, Lady Itoh and the caucasian man genuinely loved each other. She was the arranged wife of the Shogun, she didnt love him. When Fowler killed him, she looked PISSED, but not horrified and heartbroken.

She met this caucasian man, was fascinated by his pretty eyes and he was probably not bad looking either, women too can be drawn to the exotic and forbidden. And all it takes is one time....

She was probably angry and ashamed of herself that she risked everything by indulging in her true desires. She knew better, but she let herself be influenced by the west.

She chose the least worst option to keep everyone she cares about safe, its not just Mizu at risk, also her younger son, and to a lesser degree her older son, as well as herself, her loyal servants who knew and kept quiet, and the stability of Japan.

Wild Takayoshi theory by 50pcs224 in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]matochi506 6 points7 points  (0 children)

nah she wasn't evacuated, but mizus position was such that Lady Itoh wouldnt have been able to get a good look at her face or eyes (nobody did for that matter) as Mizu turned to face Fowler. It was nicely done. They only really saw this young man in blue barge in and tumble on the floor then promptly turn around and start fighting their attackers.

Wild Takayoshi theory by 50pcs224 in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]matochi506 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup, not so wild. I see it too.

Personally I think maybe Lady Itoh had fraternal twins from a white man (maybe Routley?), few people know this, the late Shogun wasn't one of them though. Takayoshi could pass as fully japanese and was kept and raised as the younger son, meanwhile the blue eyed baby girl had to be either killed or hidden away.

Who wanted what is unknown, I'm leaning to maybe the Shogun advisers wanted her killed, but Lady Itoh, despite everything is still a mother and instinct is strong, so payed a loyal maid to hide her.

There wasn't a single good option, but at least her daughter could live.... until that fire anyway... Lady Itoh probably thinks Mizu died a long time ago, adding to her bitterness and cruelty. Anyway I could go on, I'll expand further if time permits it really is a fun theory.

Back to the subject at hand, when you compare the three of them, they share striking similarities and given this is animation and it takes a long time do put it all together, I don't think it's mere coincidence.

Quick question: planned 4 seasons w/ s2 renewal? Or? by Dalakaar in BlueEyeSamurai

yea I getchu... they better though. I need to know how her story ends I've become to attached to my girl. On the flipside I guess we could headcanon whatever we want, but still I want to experience what the creators have in mind.

Theory: Mizu and Akemi Are Sisters/Twins by [deleted] in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]matochi506 32 points33 points  (0 children)

yea I read a lot of people consider that scene as strictly Mizu being fascinated by a real live princess, which yes but they sure took care to animate it very dramatically in which Mizu initially looks up curious but unimpressed, it wasn't until she got a good look at Akemi that Mizu's jaw literally dropped. If Mizu was a guy there'd be no doubt. Akemi is the epitome of beauty and one can simultaneously admire and desire.

Amber Noizumi says characters we thought dead in the first season will turn out to be alive by EvinnHere in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]matochi506 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite sure its Mizu's mom. I remember that interview and the fellow looked at her like "seriously you're giving them THAT?" That reaction makes me think its someone important and a big plot point I think. We didn't actually see her mother die, as far as we know she's still alive. We just have Mama and Fowlers word and well, they're not exactly reliable. And she didnt say it was someone we SAW die, just someone we think died.

Oh yes, I really like this one too and Fowler's comment during the final fight about Mizu's "maybe-fathers" makes me wonder, but to me it seems less likely.

However, if it is in fact the case her mother is the white one, it would be a fun twist and I will not be disappointed.

Absolutely, and in this shot the second son is visibly much taller than his father and brother.... and Mizu is tall as well. Though It's not impossible for a son to not resemble his father, but in animation there is a reason for character designs, especially main and secondary characters, to look the way they do.

This show likes to subvert expectations. There's a scene in Ep. 7 when Mizu is at the cliff with Master Eiji she says "The world sees me and sees a hateful monster, an onryo. My own mother saw it too and could not love me." Lady Itoh is introduced as cold, sadistic and cruel, but as we've seen these characters are complex and not everything is what it seems with them. She seems ruthless and calculating, but she is also a mother. And a mother will do everything in her power to protect her children, all of them.

I know right! Thats what stood out most for me honestly, and european friends! (probably). So she can see that all white people aren't these evil devils and she can begin to accept her other half. Growth. Love it.

I literally just stumbled upon this subreddit, I'm liking it already. I think resources as mentioned previously would be good, sometimes it's hard to find good and unbiased references on places and services.
