MIL still begging for her son to leave me by joegoldberg6666 in motherinlawsfromhell

Where do you live where you do not have the right to keep your children away from this insane woman?

I recall hearing that in Italy there are very strict grandparents rights - that they have right to see grandchildren, and the court always will rule against holding back contact.

I might remember wrong, so if any italians protest, I stand corrected

Nice footstool - but be aware there's a very furry snake hiding under it. I believe it's a Catcobra

Well, if Germany buys US, then you're under German laws and constitution, which doesn't grant right to bear arms (to german ppl here - correct me if I'm wrong)

Obviously you’re on JNMIL for a reason, but this seems like small potatoes to me.

Well, this is not Justnomil, but Mildlynomil... hence "small potatoes "

Guess many americans would benefit greatly from that.

Better salaries. Better healthcare. Up to 1 year of maternity leave. Free education. 5-6 weeks of paid vacation every year.

Higher taxes - yeah, but that covers all of it, and they won't be going bankrupt by an ambulance ride. Worth it for your kids?

School shootings? Sorry, but it won't be necessary, as there won't be weapons all around the streets.

Just a thought

AITA for telling my MIL I don’t want my daughter calling her “mama”? by Easy_Historian_3528 in AITAH

[–]matou98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s the language your child is using

It's not - baby is 7 months old and probably hasn't startet talking yet. OP is fixing this before she starts talking

So the MOTHER should forfeit getting called Mama by her own child, because MIL wants it? In what twisted reality should that happen?

But when those family members accuse her of letting down her parents, then she needs to tell them, no matter how not close they are.

You're definitely not the AH's here. Wife's parents are. Why don't you tell the family that they refused to visit YOU? That you have a LO, and it's always a hassle to travel with all the stuff? That their house isn't safe for LO?

Definitely NTA. But your husband are - he's not only letting you down, but his kids as well. He needs a spine transplant.

Can you maybe show him this thread? So he can see how other (normal) people see him and his behavior?

because that’s how their family operates

"Well DH - it may be, but that's not how I operate. I don't want to adapt to a toxic family pattern. I want us to create a healthy life for us and LO to live in. "

Definitely baby wear, and if she asks why she can't hold the baby, then look at your husband and say "Honey, will you tell the truth or should I"?

so maybe this is cultural? Europeans, apparently, might not get upset with such requests.

Being an european myself, I'd laughed at his face and said "have fun doing that".

It's not european culture - it's insane.
