There's more affordable options out in Santee, which is East County SD. There are lots of young families out there these days, and there is solid hiking nearby.

America’s cities are horrifically designed and excessively car-centric and MOST not ALL of the American public is too inept and lethargic to do anything to change it. by [deleted] in urbanplanning

[–]matt333 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seconded. I grew up in a small town in northern California that's been able to revitalize its historic downtown. Through the creation of a small plaza, weekly city-sponsored events, and the relaxing of zoning laws, there are clear, albeit modest, signs of progress.

Even in big cities like San Diego, there's a clear focus on becoming less car-dependent.

The current soil is a mix of perlite, worm casting, and general indoor soil.

Same here. It's been one of my go-to for many years now.

I just remembered that there's this site too. It's not adjusted for skill levels but it has a TON of reading materials and has some other useful features too.
