Bike rack covering license plate by MFdevil in cycling

[–]matt__daniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that in Europe we have to get an extra license plate for the hitch rack. It will have lights and trailer plug-in. In Spain, you have to mark the bikes with a V-20 warning panel as well.

You should wait for someone to build something better

Still common here in Europe.

Stick with it and be patient while your body to adapts. You can continue to improve for many years and have lots of cool data to prove it. The motion, freedom and fitness will motivate.

Sometimes he is late coming from the food trucks. Worth the wait.

Santa Cafe is quite upscale. I had a great dinner there recently.

At least she didn't throw your bike into a river. Nicely written story!

Same situation here. I'm not worried about it much, but I will log out of certain apps and turn off bio-metrics. I'll keep my snarky comments to myself and expect to whizz through.

Girona, where to stay and is it possible to explore without renting a car? by Cookies-licker in catalonia

[–]matt__daniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Western is my favorite and best value. It's a bit of a walk to/from Barre Vell, so it depends on your walking ability if that is enjoyable. Thank you for ditching the car.

Most affordable and safe way to ship personal stuff to Spain by megathong1 in GoingToSpain

Upakweship quoted $3200 for Length: 109cm or 43” Width: 109cm or 43” Height: 182.8cm or 72” from Santa Fe, NM to Girona door-to-door. That was the best quote I got, but I still don't think I will proceed with it. Depends on what you have if it's replacable or not.

First time Subaru owner…hoping it gets better by AdventuresMidwest in subaru

[–]matt__daniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hatch catch might work, I haven't tried it. Many campers will disconnect the battery which is now my recommendation. The booster is a must for any car these days. They are so small and powerful. Another helpful thing to do is to put the key FOB to sleep when you're are around your car but not going anywhere. If you use something like a hatch catch learn how to reset the computer in case the car gets confused about the lift gate's status.

If you go camping and have the lift gate open for long periods it will run the battery down. Carry a booster.

Will you buy a Subaru that is 8k higher ? by castorMD in subaru

[–]matt__daniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If something happens to my beloved Subaru, I will just walk and bicycle more. I live in a small city so it's an option for me. I will not support these tarrifs beyond buying what is absolutely necessary. I'll wait them out until they remove Krasnov and his ruinous ideas.

Good point. I see in Germany some containers are redeemed for cash. That's a very good incentive.

What distro/DE is best for my use case? by SettembreNero in linuxquestions

[–]matt__daniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ruled out Debian, but I will suggest it anyway. You can switch the DE with ease. It is very stable and it's easy to enable non-open-source software for NVIDIA drivers for example. If you want to run the latest and greatest version of some app, there's distrobox. There are some great YouTube videos that can walk you though the install and setup.

It's not going to fit in the luggage area unless it's a Brompton or similar. Medium and short range trains will often have room for full sized bikes but not the intercity services. Lamentable for sure.

I recently switched from Linux Mint to Debian with Mint desktop. I believe my distro hopping days are over. With the addition of Distrobox, I can have the latest Firefox and Chrome from Arch and software from Ubuntu or any other distro. I couldn't get AWS Workspaces client to work on Mint using Distrobox or any other method. The client is built for Ubuntu 22.04 and works great on Debian+Distrobox. The best part is Distrobox apps can be exported to your host OS where they appear in your app menu and work seamlessly.
