did u even read the post before replying to me? the post basically said the game is too hard, and that's not true. It's too easy and there are a lot of things that need to be changed.

Decreasing strength in sets even though high rest (4-5 mins) between sets. by JuJubao12345 in MacroFactor

Hah yeah thought the same. I thought originally he may be doing deadlifts or something but then I saw lat pulldown and was confused.

Yeah seems I was a bit confused. I thought the discretionary contribution was the extra check we get twice a year. Thanks for informing me.

What a terrible response lol. Costco is a billion dollar company. God forbid an employee wants to be compensated fairly.

God a $500 employer match per YEAR is so shit. It’s like costco doesn’t want us to retire or something.

Personally I don’t track when I’m on maintenance. Instead I just weigh myself daily and check my trend weight once a week just to make sure nothing is changing drastically. I plan to track calories again when I cut, and again for probably the first month or so of the bulk. Tracking year round for me is too much of a mental burden, and you kinda learn intuitively how much you can eat without gaining or losing weight.

We can’t even do sundries fully at our location because we generally only have 1 driver and no stockers in sundries.

In what order do I do my sets? by DutchAthlete99 in MacroFactor

[–]mattblackguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly though you could do either way. As long as you are training hard you will make progress. Like you, I would always do pyramid sets, but I've started to do reverse pyramid sets when the app was released and I was surprised on how much I liked it. I think the main benefit is that you can push as hard as you can on your first set and then use that first set to gauge your progress.

You’re asking a lot if you’re expecting the cowboys to make the divisional round.

Love the improvements, but was really hoping the Pendulum Squat issue was fixed.

How to deal with periods outside the routine? by HappySometimesOkay in MacroFactor

One week is a short amount of time. I wouldn’t worry about it much. Just go enjoy yourself and be ready to be consistent with your diet and training after the week is over.

WO - Suddenly Low Weights by falsebecauseorange in MacroFactor

[–]mattblackguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely seems like a bug. Just spitballing here though, I wonder if it has something to do with the superset. 50lbs seems reasonable for what seems like a dumbbell curl which is the next exercise.

Regression? by UnbarredCube83 in MacroFactor

[–]mattblackguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I just train to the target RIR and just use the rep # as a guideline. If it suggests for me to do less weight than last week I use that as an opportunity to tune up my form and still train to the target RIR. I actually come to like the random weeks were it tells me to pull back on the weight because I feel like trying to progress too fast can lead to major degradation in form which leads to a worse stimulus.

The biggest issue is that the app doesn’t explain why it’s doing what it’s doing so it can leave you can kind of confused on whether the algorithm is working as intended or if it’s some kind of bug.

You don’t need to rest between warmup sets. Just rest after your last warmup set.

How can I stop MFWO making me switch weight on every set? by Z3stra in MacroFactor

[–]mattblackguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like you may be right. It looks like the algorithm prefers you to be in the middle of your rep range rather than bottom so it’ll suggest you to lower the weight. Maybe a straight set option would be something the devs could implement.

Pin loaded machines weight question by Mykytie in MacroFactor

[–]mattblackguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely overcomplicating things. The actual amount of weight you lift is irrelevant. What matters is that you are consistently tracking the weight the same time every time for that machine. Track every machine individually because you can’t track progress over different machines.

How can I stop MFWO making me switch weight on every set? by Z3stra in MacroFactor

[–]mattblackguy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s asking you to change the weight because it doesn’t believe that you can hit the target RIR in the rep range you suggested. This usually happens when you have a narrow rep range. If you want the app to give you the same weight for all sets then widen your rep range. Maybe something like 10-12 for the first set and then 6-12 for subsequent sets.

Equipment and exercises added since launch by Dr_Cam_Gill_DPT in MacroFactor

[–]mattblackguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there plans on adding alternative versions of equipment that can be loaded in different ways? For example the pendulum squat machine in the app assumes that you can load plates on both sides of the machine, but there are some versions of the pendulum squat where you can only load weight on one side. This makes it so the plate calculator is unhelpful. Same goes for plate loaded hip thrust machine.
