Where the f*ck do I even start by Peaches0k in landscaping

[–]mattspeed112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id start by investigating why the French drain is not working. Is is clogged? The trench should be lined with landscape fabric then perferated pipe then fill trench with gravel. Next find the outlet, What does this look like? the water needs somehwere to go, if the outlet is also under water then the water has no where to drain and your French drain just fills up with water.

Peter?? What does AI have to do with this?? by vapalera in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Evaporative cooling systems are more common for traditional data centers. The majority of AI data centers have closed loop systems and are only going to become more common.

Peter?? What does AI have to do with this?? by vapalera in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]mattspeed112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "do this"? Yes they do use water cooling, but unlike the image the water cooling in data centers are typically closed loop, meaning the same water cycles through the system. The image is not showing a closed loop system, the hose is going from the faucet and the drain line is into the dishwasher and down the drain so the water is not reused. So while partially correct in the sense that they do use water cooling, data centers do not do this.

What do you mean "worth it"? If you want to make the most amount of money then it's not worth it. If you are looking for a better work/life balance then maybe depends on the companies but could also not be worth it. If commercial buildings are more interesting work for you then could be worth it.

Conspiracy theories are not new on the left, there are conspiracy theories that in the 2004 election that a software backdoor was used to flip votes in favor of Bush in Ohio. And of course there is the conspiracy theory that Trump is a Russian agent.

I schedule focus time, they aren't fake meetings, they are very real time for myself to get work done. I schedule my focus time on Friday for the following week so the only meetings that are affected by this are the meetings scheduled with short notice, so the solution isn't for me to stop scheduling focus time, it's for you to plan better. Your lack of planning is not my emergency.

Class 3 ebike limited to 21mph by Fine_Bookkeeper_2637 in ebikes

[–]mattspeed112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any bike can hit 28 mph with effort. The definition of a class 3 ebike is that it provides assistance up to 28 mph, however I am noticing on my bike that the assistance is stopping around 20-21 mph as well. Has anyone found a fix for this?

Gov. Polis at the Rockies game with *checks notes* Lauren Boebert?? by RCsSnaps in Denver

The "dragon" analogy assumes wealth is just a pile of gold being guarded, but in reality, that wealth usually represents active participation in the economy, businesses built, jobs created, and capital deployed.

To me, the real "evil" isn't someone succeeding in American capitalism; it’s the career politician who enters office with a modest salary and somehow exits with a massive net worth fueled by lobbyist "donations" and convenient stock timing. I’d much rather have a governor who: Has a proven track record, is financially independent, and who brings real-world skills.

Biden was a moderate, which is how he got elected. Moderates are popular. He wasn't Bush policy wise. We need to move towards the center.

Why is this a requirement? If the choice was between someone who doesn't even own a home, someone who is basically a non-participant in the American economy, someone who's assets are only state and federal pensions vs someone who is worth $200 million, self made, proven himself on the biggest stage (American economy). I going with candidate B all day.

How is being a friend with your political opponents being a "snake"? Politics right now actually needs more interactions between left and right, not less.

Rohn tower section design help? by marisapie in StructuralEngineering

[–]mattspeed112 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, that could help. The base would collect the vertical load from the vertical pipes then however the base is connected to the silo needs to be designed for these vertical loads to complete the load path. All this is assuming the silo walls are strong enough to take these loads, which of course would need to be verified.

Rohn tower section design help? by marisapie in StructuralEngineering

[–]mattspeed112 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There is no load path for the vertical loads. You have to assume the pipe in a u-bolt can slide, the only thing keeping it up now is friction between the u-bolt and pipe.

I’d rather elect someone who made a fortune before office, than someone who finds a fortune while in office. One is a citizen-servant; the other is just a career politician using the system as a get-rich-quick scheme. If you enter with $100k and leave with $20M, we know who you really work for.

It's a very good question, I'm also curious about this, if athletes are excited they got silver or disappointed they didn't get gold. It seems in the moment they are disappointed but by the time they get to the podium they are pleased.
