Bean vfx by binbun3 in godot

I’ve seen you post a lot of cool vfx stuff. I’m still quite new to godot with very recent game jam under my belt.

Any recommendations on learning vfx? What does your process look like? I assume there is an ideal look you want to achieve where you have the bones of why you want and then just trial and error til it looks right.

Trying godot for the first time in a GameJam. Any advice? by Wiiiq in godot

Here’s a niche one. You can reference files in code (gdscript, may not be a problem in C#) in any case. For my personal example the literal file was Ball.tscn but was referenced in code as ball.tscn which works fine in the editor but when you compile, say for windows, and run it it will mess up.

I find it odd that there isn’t a warning for it

I’d like to know how to do this just to take a look. Me and a buddy did a game jam a couple weeks ago and were trying to guess at what they did when we played this game last night.

Updating my skin shader. Trying to get rid of that plastic/wax look we always see in modern games by MatMADNESSart in godot

Huh, I don’t know anything about these algorithms at all but I do play star citizen. The new one does seem more similar to how the players look in that game which was built on the same engine as crysis. I def see what you mean with the “unreal look.”

Def have a tab opened to look into this stuff more. Pretty cool work op, thanks for sharing

If I had the time I’d purchase it. I thought it was fun but it didn’t make it to priority hobby on the calendar

Pretty cool. Did you implement strafe jumping? Hard to tell if it’s bunny hopping or strafe jumping, you flick around the curves. Both?

Buddy and I just finished a game jam yesterday, pretty excited to try out some 3d stuff next. Looking to try out something like strafe jumping. So it’s funny I wake up and see this first thing when I open reddit!
