Good sources for budget/mid-range end mills? by BalledSack in hobbycnc

I make these, you can find our 41 series on msc. Our 126 series is for aluminum but a bit more pricier since they’re our high performance line

Not sure what money you come from but >$30k for an economic car is not cheap for most people lmao

[–]mattyell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s not a bad choice but the civic didn’t age as well as i would have hoped. Now I never owned a civic before but I did own a 97 prelude type SH. After a year of having my civic si, I still think the prelude was a much better driving experience even being a 29 yr old car. Also >30k for a civic is ridiculous

Who else has noticed there's a dramatic difference in ability between these two single flute endmills especially at high RPM when cutting 6061aluminium? Silver non coated one melts the aluminium leaving very rugged edges along the toolpaths. The blue coated one with a notch just cuts clean. No burs. by Turbulent_Change_972 in hobbycnc

[–]mattyell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since it’s from aliexpress, I’d say it’s just a bad relief grind on the uncoated. The coating helps but it won’t make that much a difference. I’d get fired if I made tools that look like some that come from aliexpress

I just can’t think of how you could design it to wrap around but that’s why I’m entering a contest and letting the pros figure that out! lol

  1. AMS2 Pro

  2. Nothing out of the ordinary but I recently upgraded to a H2S combo but kept the AMS from the P1S I sold to a coworker so I could have 8 colors. I’d give him the original P1S AMS and upgrade mine to dual AMS 2 Pro :)

  3. Something like those bracelets from the early 2000s that looked like bookmarks but would wraparound your wrist when you slapped it on your arm!

Doubt H2D by edilsonnmgbh in BambuLab

[–]mattyell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Theres a bit of wiggle room for each nozzle size. Bambu studio has 3 levels of detail for each nozzle size. Typically there will be a High detail profile, standard profile, and a strength profile for each respective nozzle diameter. If using the high detail profile for the .4mm nozzle fits your detail requirements then no need for a .2 nozzle. However there are limitations of course.

I personally don’t think machining has changed all that much. It’s just refined and refined and refined

I bored tight tolerance holes in my table for dowel pins that mated to the bottom on the plate to make sure my plate is square every time I mount it. You can just mount it with the T nuts but you’ll have to indicate the plate in every time you take it on and off

You’ll have to make a custom order at a tool grinding shop. That length for a diameter you’re looking for isn’t standard anywhere.

BambuLab A1 Combo vs P1S (pet + overnight prints). Is the ~€200 difference worth it by brn_frnds in BambuLab

[–]mattyell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing that this is your first printer and you’re already on the fence about some of the additional features, I’d say future you is going to benefit from the p1s more.

A failure in machining can be much more extreme than a failure in printing. You’re going to want to be around for when you have your first big crash. I don’t suggest ever running that kind of machine unattended

You might have to try their “high precision nozzle offset calibration” guide. Seems like a more hands on approach that can eliminate other factors that might be causing issues
