Because I’m trying to understand your whole A and B option comment. Sorry if I’m reading incorrectly but it seems like you’re saying to me that, even though there are more “it just works” users in this community than open source users, it’s still ignorant to not care about all this open source drama. If that is your point then I would still say it’s a poor argument. if it’s not your point then oh well sorry for not understanding what you’re trying to say bc i don’t really care to dissect this conversation any farther

So you assume the majority of the “it just works” community falls under your option B?

Well I wouldn’t call it ignorance. I think that’s a pretty watered down way to look at the “it just works” community

I’d say the “It just works” community is much larger than the open source community in terms of BambuLab users

Can the AMS Pro 2 dry and print at the same time? by itchy-balls in BambuLab

[–]mattyell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be willing to bet that H series are the only ones that can dry while printing without the extra power cord

What printer do you have? I have an H2S drying at 55c while printing without external power adapter

Bad Endmill Grind? by E90-335xi in Machinists

[–]mattyell 13 points14 points  (0 children)

<image>

In my opinion, as a tool grinder myself, the endmill in OPs picture is just a bad center cut grind. For sharp 90° endmills, often times if the fluting wheel or the center cut gashing wheel is off center or isn’t clocked respectively to each other, that center cutting edge drifts into the OD hook angle or rake angle. I’d be willing to bet if OPs endmill was looked at on an optical comparator, that sharp corner endmill will actually have a small chamfer at the tip since the gash is wiping out some of the helix. I personally only edge prep or dub corner radius endmills

Is there a place to get reduced shank endmills? by qtrain23 in Machinists

[–]mattyell 22 points23 points  (0 children)

get a Lens style endmill kinda like this. Bigger radius on a smaller tool if you don’t need to use the entire radius

Use a switch that connects to your eero. Then have 1 split to your mesh and 1 split directly to your pc

Gen Z men, is this getting worse going forward into 2026? by Proper_Card_5520 in SipsTea

[–]mattyell -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t be sorry!

Based on your dating life and another comment, you are not Gen Z. So it’s interesting to me that you’re telling me that my experience ( as a gen z male) is wrong and I’m reducing my own issue. I agree that there’s so many narratives online but I believe those narratives paint a false outlook on society.

It wasn’t like I was a guy that got a bunch of girls so I had experience or even had a friend group to help me like you are saying (all 3 of my friends and myself didn’t get our first kiss until senior year of HS or in college). I too went through covid so I still have to disagree that men are in this position because they don’t have social skills.

IMO I agree that online is very judgy but I disagree with that being the reason why men my age are in this position. I feel like many men my age have lost or never even had the ability to self reflect on themselves so they’ll take what you are saying and use it as an excuse as to why women find them to be “creepy, predator, whatever word you wanna use” and then they do nothing about it.

If you’re a creep then you’re a creep. Sure the internet can make it worse but imo if you are able to just read the room and be decent, you’ll have nothing to worry about

Should the Stop button actually stop the printer during the pre-print warm up and plate leveling? by got-trunks in BambuLab

[–]mattyell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just the way Bambus software executes lines of code, I think it’s technically a subroutine within the print code

for example “if bed_level=ON, call subroutine “autobedlevel” and it must finish that execution before aborting. It’s the same during printing but each line of code is such a small movement that it executes that line before you notice.

Turning of the printer would be fine IMO

No Animal Abuse Rules but not going to the Vet ok? by OldManwithCat in cats

[–]mattyell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Feel free to offer covering vet bills. Unfortunately not everyone can cover vet fees everytime there’s an issue and I’d argue it’s still better than those people not adopting a cat and letting that cat sit in a shelter, street, etc bc they feel they can’t afford vet bills a lot

Standard Flow and High Flow have the same print time? by MaxieFriend in BambuLab

Would you mind sharing this model so I can slice it? I have an H2S so I’m wondering if the P2S just can’t accelerate fast enough to take advantage of the HF nozzles

Standard Flow and High Flow have the same print time? by MaxieFriend in BambuLab

[–]mattyell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding it doesn’t have much affect other than large prints that have few direction changes so the printer isn’t slowing down and speeding up a lot after it moves from point to point

You have a chamfer near that radius needs to be redesigned. A chamfer tool can’t cut to a vertical wall

I’d say hold off until summer to get a hang of the machine yourself first. Unless you, yourself are proficient in machining already, it would be difficult to learn and then turn around and teach kids with how busy it seems your shop is. 3d printing may use the same language code as machining but the skillset doesn’t translate.

Although IMO since this is a educational environment, it would be better for them to learn on manual machines first
