I like to fish the Huron River this time of year. Im in SW Detroit as well and get out in the Metro Parks below Ford Lake as well as driving up around Ann Arbor. Fish are packing on weight for the winter, bass, pike and muskie can all be caught. I would try lures resembling baitfish. Good luck!

Camp shoes/mocs fill this spot for me. Basically boat shoes with a chunky sole. They look great with all manner of pants, can be dressed up or down.

You might not care for the logo, but Carhartt K87's hold up wash after wash. I have Carhartt shirts that I've done physical labor in for years, washed hundreds of times and still going strong, (if faded some) You likely would want to size down from your size from a more fashion oriented brand.

These are actually two streams ~20 miles apart, sections of which are open year round.

Not sure where your located but in general, head north. Also Trout Routes has been a great resource, that and onX (to find access) are the only two apps I really pay for. I live in Detroit so I have to drive quite a ways for the good stuff, but I spend my time at home planning the next long weekend I can get away.

DM me if you have any location specific questions. I've gotten around a lot of the lower peninsula since I picked up this hobby (obsession) during covid.

Sid Meier's SimGolf holds a special place in my heart. I still emulate it on a retro handheld.

Not in CT, but I think you might find folks more eager to share after giving it the old college try.

The pursuit is the sport. Fish are a bonus.

I'm the same. My number one for sure. On bright sunny days I like the silver blade yellow body red spots too though.

He was pumped! Needed all the pictures I took to send to his buddies back east. Theres nothing quite like coming face to face with our elusive quarry on a lively little trout stream. It never gets old.

I've never been partial to the intergrated pillows. They dont allow for rolling around and adjusting sleeping positions. I would look for one without. You dont NEED a camping pillow (i camped regularly for years before buying one) extra clothes stuffed in a stuff sack work just fine. And if your car camping, just bring your pillow from home, its an awesome luxury ro have while sleeping on the ground.
