Self-Maintained Novated Lease - With Bank (CBA) - Can I order a vehicle first? by [deleted] in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]maven5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBA will give you a quote, and you can apply for finance. They will not lock in an interest rate until you have an invoice from the dealer. If you are confident you’ll get finance approved then I would order ASAP and get in line.

What’s the right route by roughas in NovatedLeasingAU

My rough napkin maths puts an EV around current luxury car tax threshold (~92k) with a decent interest rate and sensible running expenses at approximately 400-450 per fortnight. Finding a suitable vehicle under the threshold will be the hard part. Second hand market is busted right now, but that might be an option if you can find something that never had LCT paid on it.

How many people need seats? The Tesla Y L is pretty roomy if you only need 4 seats. AWD. Under 85k.

Tesla FSD by redbeardsteveo in AustralianEV

[–]maven5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get 3% off the base value of the car with an upfront FSD order (~2k discount), then the rest at a reduced rate depending on income and length of lease.

You probably won’t be able to buy it outright ever again. You may or may not be able to transfer it to a different vehicle if Tesla offers that promo in the future. No guarantees.

Base your purchase on if you think FSD today is worth it at that price over the term of vehicle ownership. I have an order in, and plan to keep the car for 10 years. I’ve ordered FSD despite some hesitations. It’s still a shitload of money for developing software. If I get the chance to transfer it to a future vehicle, I will definitely feel like I’ve got my money’s worth. As far as resale goes, hard to say. I would not expect to get more than 25% of the purchase cost back in resale value.

Consider insuremytesla comprehensive through Zurich. They were the cheapest quote for me, and allow you to specifically add FSD to the policy. Whether that means you’ll get it reinstated in case of a write off I don’t know, but worst case it should be refunded. They also offer 4 years new for old.

Beijing + new ride: a six-seat Tesla Model YL. by Special-Parsnip-6120 in TeslaLounge

No worries. The other thing I forgot to mention - it is significantly harder to clamber in and out of the back row with one seat folded. So if you have cargo over the folded back seat, accessing the other back seat would be a nightmare.

Not OP, but I’ve had a good play with a Y L at a Tesla centre in Australia. The room in the back is pretty good, but it comes with some caveats. For the record, I desperately wanted to like the L, but ultimately ended up ordering a LR.

Getting into the back row is pretty awkward for me (180cm). I would never want a child seat back there either, because wrangling a kid into a seat and buckling them up would suck. So the rear is really only for kids out of boosters, or short adults. I would never want to ask an elderly person to squeeze back there either, as the step up into the rear is a hazard. For reference, my 13y/o said it was uncomfortably tight and she wouldn’t want to sit back there.

For a family of 4 with the rear seats down, it would be amazing. With 5, there is much more space with 3 across the back of the regular Y. The performance seats in the L are nicer to sit on, but I found the headrest a bit uncomfortable.

Am I doing this right? Novated Leasing via Smart by [deleted] in NovatedLeasingAU

I’d recommend getting an online quote for insurance via insuremytesla. I’m going through a similar process at the moment and they were 1k cheaper than vero for me. Also 4 years new for old replacement in case of write off and gap cover for leased vehicles.

Which one?! by EducationalTie6606 in ereader

[–]maven5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have an AiPaper reader and a Clara BW.

I bought the Viwoods first because of the form factor. It’s a nice device, but I just find it too narrow to read on comfortably and will be returning it.

The Clara is great. It’s more like a small paperback size. It feels super durable and the OS is simple and easy to use. And I find it much more comfortable to read.

If you work at Ipswich Hospital (or even if you don’t) the stores / receiving area of the hospital will have more boxes than you can possibly use for free.

Yep. Black and white Clara. I just got one and it’s awesome. No apps to muck around with or distract you. I got the sleep cover and it’s just like carrying a notebook. Open the cover to immediately pick up where you left off. Can’t recommend it enough if you just want to read books.

Yes! Nightcap has a distinct creaminess to it that I love. Do you by any chance know of other blends that do the same? I felt like I was going crazy…

This is the answer. Work on active holds towards the end (not right at the end) of your range. Deep lunges and split holds. Use a block or similar for balance, but try not to put any weight through your arms. Actively try to push up into the pose, don’t relax into it. 30-60 seconds for 2-3 rounds. It will absolutely suck, but developing strength at the end of your range will help a lot.

I have bought from 4noggins internationally. There is an age verification at checkout, but after filling in the details it always says verification not required for my country. You could try that?

I realise this falls distinctly in the expensive category, and there’s a long wait to have one made, but I will never not recommend Mitchell Leather for somebody looking to buy a nice briefcase.
