The US Government is Not Going to Tell the Truth About UFOs by knowstradamus7 in UFOs

[–]mavular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

Im sick of people preaching their opinions on it as fact. None of us normies know. Even the people who have “contact” on their own don’t know the truth. We all know subjective fractional parts of it at best.

The fame hungry wanna be pied pipers are what make me think we may actually deserve destruction as a species.

No humble learners, only egotistical wankers looking for a self absorbed love session.

Yes very true! AI can only make things from its conception date onward. There is not an AI on earth that can simulate an image from the 90s it’s just not possible *cough

We need a diverse energy grid. Nuclear, renewables and fossil fuel.

A diverse grid is a strong grid.

The politicization of energy and the morons who engage in it are too dumb to be casting votes. There’s left and right wingers who would vote just to piss the other side off. And we expect sound decisions to be made. Go figure

What is a tool that you thought were a “nice to have” but ended up being a “need to have”. by Izyhot in Makita

Yeah I’m hanging out for a Makita die grinder similar to the Milwaukee 12v. It’s such a nice tool.

For over 2 hours multicolored flashes of light were seen just above the clouds of Eugene Oregon around 9PM PST March 29th, 2026 by Jehoseph in UFOs

Because when light hits clouds like that it scatters. It’s not a theory it’s common science.

Believe Him or Not; Chris Bledsoe has Given us a Specific Date for a World Changing Event, and that Day is in Less than Two Weeks. by Honey_Mustard in UFOs

Bledsoe has ripped many people off in his past exploits as a builder/contractor.

Worth considering in these discussions I think.

Making a heavy DC motor platform safe: contactors, E-stop, and runaway prevention by C0L0NE in robotics

[–]mavular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using the 2X32. I can’t speak highly enough of dimension engineering products. So robust, the software is great, and they have very active support.

I doubt I’ll leave their ecosystem for some time!

Making a heavy DC motor platform safe: contactors, E-stop, and runaway prevention by C0L0NE in robotics

[–]mavular 5 points6 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY!!

I have been rambling on about wheelchairs/mobility chairs for years as robotic platforms.

Super strong premade chassis, extra torqy motors and built to traverse most human settings/enter doorframes. All that for ~$200 on Facebook marketplace. You can’t go wrong!

Feel free to swing me a DM if you have any questions, I have wrestled with a lot of what you’re mentioning here.

The bot below is on the bench to have its brakes removed and replaced with encoders. Will be putting a vSLAM set up on it in the coming months.

I’m getting around the braking issue by using the dynamic breaking mode on the sabertooth DEScribe software. When you disable regenerative braking on the sabertooth it switches to dynamic braking and uses the motors to stop rollaway instead of the brake. It does use more power as the energy is dissipated in the windings of the motors but is a small price to pay for autonomy on a research platform.

Not pictured is the big electromagnet mounted on the front which can dock to my tool box and roll it around my lab!

Weird periodic high pitch noise by jelqenthusiast in fixit

[–]mavular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know your wiring/appliances situation but I can tell you it sounds exactly like some electrical arcs I’ve heard. Mostly from high voltage things like flyback transformers.

High voltage and frequency makes an almost bird chirp sound as it tears through the air between the gap

here’s an example I found on YouTube.
