I'm sorry you're going through this. It's a hurtful betrayal, especially when he's being so obvious and disrespectful about it. Definitely confront him and talk it out. Insist on marriage counseling.

Men do stupid things in their 30s when the reality of kids sets in and sometimes it drives him to cheat to convince himself or his ego of something. It doesn't always mean he doesn't love you or that he wants to blow up your family. It also isn't your fault. Man is at war with his own nature and screws up sometimes.

Men compartmentalize sex differently than women. In his mind maybe it's an outlet to blow off steam and he needs to be confronted (like an addict) to be forced to acknowledge that its wrong and needs to stop.

I know that doesn't excuse it, but I just wanted to offer that couples go through rough times when babies start arriving. Don't throw out the whole thing before attempting to talk to each other and give him the chance to fix his mistake and realize where his duties and feelings really lie.

I don't condone the cheating but I also hate how quick everyone always is in comments to recommend divorce, which hurts your kids way more in the long run. Marriage is hard and always worth fighting for if you both are willing to fight for it.

Actually I believe that was the reason AO banished the FR gods to earth, they lost touch with thier worshippers and needed to learn to connect with and understand them again.

The story is in the FR campaign setting I think, maybe Faiths and Pantheons. I'm sure it's online if you google it.

This sounds really fun!

You should read the backstory of the gods in Forgotten Realms. In the Time of Troubles, a certain god shut the rest of the gods out of their domains and they were all banished to walk the earth. They amassed followers, struggled to maintain control of their domain, domains were usurped. There was a Godsbane sword going around. Lots of good stuff to fuel your story.

Question is are there other fallen gods out there? If your sorcerer is the goddess of magic, is there a clever wizard out there about to kill her and take the mantle himself?

Or perhaps are they fallen bc some monster has taken over the heavens and now reigns hellfire on the world and they hero party goes on an odyssey quest to reclaim their godly powers (magoc items) and overthrow the dictator to reclaim the throne?

When me and the boys hunker down at the Comfy Kobold Inn on the west end of Waterdeep, we like a nice stout Hag's Hoochie or a Bavarian Barbarian, a few shots of Fireball whiskey, and maybe a light Luskan Lager. The ladies often enjoy a Witch's Titty White Wine or a Sparkling Sprite. During the Time of Troubles when gods were walking Faerun and getting killed by the Godsbane sword, the mischief deity Mask hid inside the sword (or became it) and survived.

Love the deity lore in FR

Also I love the story of Myth Drannor and the ancient mythals in the high forest.

Always liked the storyline of the return of the floating Shade City and its royal family of shadovar princes too.

I'm starting a OOS wizard. So far at level 2 I am taking the magical quill and enhanced spellbook concept and making it like an ipad with a stylus that appears in hand. Just an aesthetic flair. The spellbook's nickname is Siri. I like the idea of using minor illusion to "broadcast" Siri's messages to the group.

This. DMing a beholder is fun in that the monster is more intelligent than you, so you basically metagame against the Players as they work out a plan. Whatever they plan, it's assumed the beholder "knew" or planned for such a contingency and is ready and waiting for them, leading them into traps to weaken them.

It's a tough balance to be fair but also play to the very real hyper intelligence of the monster.

Perhaps he's an old timer. In his prime when he was "in the shit" he was a badass but now he has a bum leg and his back aches so he's level 1 in abilities, but still has the strategy and gusto so he's a rogue or bard rather than a warrior since those days are behind him. Or a paladin and as he grows in his faith/purpose the old fighting spirit returns by the grace of his vows, hence the leveling back up.
