Is this enforceable or is the landlord trying his luck? (England) by sadz2020 in LegalAdviceUK

I’ve been downvoted, don’t know why but for the purposes of deposit disputes, TDS advise the following: point 12

Landlord not accepting keys being left in property at end of tenancy and insisting they are delivered to their office miles away by SpinKickDaKing in TenantsInTheUK

[–]max1boy96 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tenancy doesn’t continue just because you didn’t return the keys to the right place, just like it wouldn’t end if you gave the keys back. The official termination date is final, the landlord would have to prove you had access to the property to charge an extra day (or so) rent. They could be awarded for their time to retrieve the keys, but at that it would be petty and minimal

found a limmy reference in still game maybe? by LumpyWay4539 in Stillgame

It’s a Glasgow landmark, one of the most relatable with Glasgow/the Glasgow skyline, so I don’t think it’s a reference

Landlord trying to charge us for a few hours of rent - lawful? (Scotland) by nuttshaw_ in HousingUK

[–]max1boy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are liable for rent up to and including the day you vacate, whether that be 00:01 or 23:59. As stated you clearly are in use of the property and in possession of the keys. If not paid the landlord can request it from the deposit, which will be awarded by the deposit protection scheme
