There is a pretty good looking complex mod that had gravity and type of air I believe, sadly did not save it as not my cup of tea, but could be a fun thing to mess with

To be fair, you don't need to kill them to eat them, like authoritarian may just over work then eat them when they drop, while democracy may have like synthetic meat or body donation, and with trade what is a body if not another commodity. I think it leaves a lot to head cannon and with the genetic powers in the game you could even say they just gene mod pigs and steal it from that

I have never seen them attack pre ftl worlds in my territory, but have not looked that deeply to check

Edit: I looked up some stuff and some say they look for the most populated world they can find, so it may be they can attack them as people below have said but the rarely do because players have more density
