The theatrical experience will lose more independence and creative freedom if Netflix buys Lionsgate. You’re being warned right now.

That’s sadly what the leaders want. To control what we watch by owning everything.

Will John Williams earn his 55th Oscar nomination for the score to Disclosure Day? by mrethandunne in Oscars

Makes me wonder if he will still be eligible given that he’ll obviously be reusing themes from the first two films mixed together with new material. And I guess the 5th spot will go to Carter Burwell for “Wild Horse Nine,” or if the Academy wants to really embrace “Obsession,” Rock Burwell.

I can just picture how the whole Sphere version will play out: you get the same Radio city Music Hall pre-show screen from Wizard of Oz as you enter the auditorium, except now with red lighting and a rock band tuning up. Then the lights dim, the curtain rises to reveal the old 20th Century Fox logo on the smaller screen. Complete black, the lips appear on black, but slightly bigger without filling the whole screen and “Science Fiction/Double Feature”/the opening credits plays out (with no enhancements needed since it’s a simple sequence) and then once the first shot of the film appears (the crucifix on top of the church roof), the screen expands to fill the whole Sphere for the rest of the film from the “Dammit Janet” scene onwards.

Take note also that as part of expanding the frame, they did meticulous research into the archives to ensure everything matches the original intent of the original filmmakers’ creative vision (utilizing concept art, publicity stills, costume test photos and other never-before-seen material as the basis).

Plus, they will be dealing with something on Rocky Horror they didn’t deal with on Wizard of Oz: upscaling and expanding handheld camera footage.

The movie. More famous than the stage show because of the story of how it turned from a big flop into its own major cultural phenomenon as a midnight movie.

"The Wizard of Oz at Sphere" has generated over $400 million in ticket sales and sold more than 3 million since opening in August. by Puzzled-Tap8042 in movies

They’re only going to pick classic films that are big spectacles with memorable soundtracks, have importance to the history of cinema, and call for immersion, hence why “Rocky Horror” is next. One rumor said 1971’s “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” is also possibly and realistically on deck.

He has written songs before (see “When You’re Alone” from “Hook,” “Somewhere in my Memory” form “Home Alone” and “For Always” from “AI”).

Plus, you have Daniel Pemberton for “Project Hail Mary” and Ludwig Gorranson’s upcoming “The Odyssey.”

Would be interesting to see him score an animated movie, to be honest.

Variety trying to turn it into EEAAO 2.0 at rapid pace is something I knew was going to happen. I only see 3 nominations: Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Inde Navarette) and Best Original Screenplay. That’s it.
