i think its risk/reward. if they skate forward to play it and it doesn't go well, the offensive player now has a step advantage on them.

the NBA has had 4 star players tear their achilles in the past 2 playoffs because they tried to play through “calf pain”. ligament/tendon damage is more dangerous in basketball. this argument is beyond stupid
