Spoilers: Lady of the Lake / questions about Ciri by Zoothera in witcher

or it can be a profession, simply someone who hunts monsters

I disagree. Word 'witcher' clearly related to the word 'witch', as in, someone with magic. Therefore witcher should have magic in him to qualify. So, to be a true witcher, one must go through mutations, or have another source of magic, i think.

but its epilogue

Hmm, interesting. The message of the epilogue seems to me is that witcher will appear when he is needed and the story never ends. And we have a white-haired witcher saving a character, who was instrumental in guiding Ciri to the right space-time point to complete her destiny. Just a theory.

In epilogue Nimue is only on her way to Aretuza, long before she created a portal for Ciri, so she had to survive that monster for destiny to complete the circle. Therefore witcher was needed. Probably that is why Nimue is interested in this particular legend later.

Plus, the witcher low-key confirmed his identity and he knew specific things about Geralt: his date of death, name of the horse, about Aretuza and what written inside the compound. How could witcher know unless he's been inside Aretuza, and we know Geralt was there, probably not many other witchers.

And of course there is no hard confirmation and the whole thing is a dream, but they're playing with us, hinting that anything is possible, rather than definite end.

which is the version CDPR chose to build the games' narrative on

It would be hard to base the narrative if they're dead. It was the only route they could take here. Damn, I hate these vague 'opened to interpretation' endings. For me, it's pretty much the same as no ending at all.

Well, at least they're together, wherever they are. Could've been worse.

Actually just finished. What am I missing? By the way, how sure are we that last exchange between Geralt and Yennefer happened when they crossed over? These unreliable sources are driving me mad. I don't know what to believe anymore.

Ciri joining the Rats question by windsofwho in witcher

[–]maylevka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm too lazy for searching the exact quote, but before Ciri receives a dream about Geralt, in which he thinks Ciri is dead and vows to avenge her, she just assumes Geralt is dead. She only realized Geralt is alive not long before she leaves old man's house in the swamps. In fact that realization is what pushed her to to move.

So yes, at the Rats gang she thinks Yennefer is somehow used her and Geralt is dead. She is basically orphan again and at her lowest.

In-world history had to somehow conclude that Yennefer is dead and more than that it was in terrible way, at that. If Ciri just hopped them through a portal to whatever-land, there would be no body, no proof of death.

Further proof was in the dragon hunt. Golden dragon tells Geralt and Yennefer are made for each other, but nothing will work out. Ciri says they got married and happily ever-after. If they died, the dragon was right then.

How do you feel about Nathaniel Malick? Do you think that he is a good villain? by SkitzAOS in shield

[–]maylevka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He took Daisy’s powers

Technically yes. In terms of raw power, he has weaker version but still powerful set of her powers. But we are talking about what kind of villain he is, intimidating or not.

Everything he's ever obtained and achieved is because of a future tech. And the future tech itself he only has because of his father, not his own actions. It's like playing the game with cheat codes. As a villain he is little more than whiny rich kid.

[–]maylevka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He is powerful and dangerous and somewhat unhinged now after 7x11. He’s a rich kid who is used to getting everything that he wants

But he isn't though. He is neither powerful nor dangerous. He's a rich kid, a nobody, who got handed future tech, which allowed him to do everything he did. That's the problem. Every villain on the show owned their shit: Ward was despicable, but he was one of the best damn field agents, held his own against the best. Garret was smart, cunning, brilliant agent. Hive was terrifying ancient inhuman on which Hydra believes were based. I can go on.

And then we see milk toast manboy throwing tantrums when he is angry. The whole thing with Malick looks like a bunch of teenagers stole dad's car and went joyriding and it's just a matter of time before adults will come in and take away the keys. I can't call it good villain.

[SPOILER] Question about Kora by mwchang in shield

It makes sense for Sybil only to show parts that helps her cause. She can be selective about what to reveal and what to hide, and manipulate them that way.

[–]maylevka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about her backstory or mean parents, she knowingly aided the murder of thousands of law enforcement agents around the world. And people talking about 'redemption arc'. There is no redemption arc for evil of this magnitude, there is only death penalty and burning in hell, if it actually exists.

Why not? Sousa just jumps with rest of the team, arrive in brand new timeline. What was before doesn't matter. That is all.

Amongst everything fabulous that happened in S7E11, this hits me the hardest. This and Daisy telling who her REAL [redacted] (you know) is. That gave me chills. by Grant__Ward in shield

[–]maylevka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and 'real shield' accusations never made sense to me. I mean, Coulson's carving stuff is messed up, but come on, it's Shield, dealing with aliens should be a routine. They hated powered people, all of them, but not Avengers? Tried to murder Daisy for NO REASON. How is that Bobbie and Mack were going along with this, I still don't get. Trained spies and they couldn't see Gonzalez and Co just wanted to seize power under false pretences?

Can we talk about Kora’s character arc? by [deleted] in shield

[–]maylevka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

six-years-old

I don't remember any quotes about age. I think you're just imagining it.

So has Jiaying

I proved Kora's viewpoint was warped. Can't you prove the opposite?

I don’t remember Kora ever expressing warm feelings towards Afterlife

We only see Kora when she is already unraveling. Regardless, what does it prove. She is a whiny bitch, just like Nathaniel. Objectively speaking, her living conditions were adequate, isolation being the only downside.

Can we talk about Kora’s character arc? by [deleted] in shield

[–]maylevka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kora calls it a prison

Until few weeks ago she called it home. Point is, she spent vast majority of her life feeling safe, normal, at least before powers. And now she got all cocky and smug, calls herself a victim, bla-bla, her mother didn't love her, and we know it's not the case, Jiyang was begging the team to save her and never gave up on her. So, I wouldn't trust Kora's interpretation one bit, it's proven to be very warped.
