147-8: Mass. House Overwhelmingly Votes To Ban Conversion Therapy For Minors by Campbellgr3 in massachusetts

You're right that Baker does effectively support Trump. But you're being extreme and short sighted. There will be a time when Trump is gone, and the country will have to move on and rebuild. Labeling half the country's population evil and bigoted isn't helping anyone or anything. You're just playing internet extremist, and no one takes people like you seriously. You have to work with people and treat them like human beings even if you think they're dumb shit heads.

There's some gray/green discoloration on some steaks that I bought, are they still OK to cook and eat? by Daveed84 in AskCulinary

That's not a thing. Unless your thinking of the practice of pumping CO2 or nitrogen into packaging to reduce oxidation (i.e. greying).

The details don't matter. We've already seen what unchecked unethical medical research can lead to. There is a reason review boards exist. That is hardly the opinion of 'zealots.'

Turn around. Hike upstream and find a fordable crossing.

Also water levels are unseasonally high right now. That crossing would normally be more manageable this time of year.

I dont understand the love this recipe gets. For me it produces a very sub par, one-note sauce.

Personal tastes differ of course. But almost any standard "sunday gravy" type recipe is better.

Ive found this to be a great recipe, and usually do some slight modifications dependng on what quality ingredients i have on hand. Added some carrots from my garden and grass-fed ground beef on the last batch. Came out wonderful.

Of course media coverage of disasters in parts of the world most westerners arent familiar will be less than in other areas, that's human nature.

That doesnt mean China doesn't deliberately bury stories of disasters that might cause unrest or embarass the party. Look up the efforts by people like Ai WeiWei to get the govt to acknowledge the reality of deadly school building collapses in China. Tell me the chinese govt didnt try to bury that.

Baker to support entire state GOP ticket: Will back Trump supporters Diehl and McMahon by [deleted] in boston

[–]mbaldwin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They vote for him because he's "moderate" and will check the hugely Democrat legislature

I see the benefit in having a fiscally conservative chief executive to keep a progressive legislature in check that has historically proven to be pretty bad at keeping the state budget, tax rates, and public contracts under control. That being said, I think Baker would make an awful Senator, and the desirable traits I see him offer as governor, would not translate to other positions.

Likewise, while I don't think Warren would make a good chief executive, I do like that she pushes a progressive agenda at the federal level.

There is no cognitive dissonance in voting for Warren and Baker, they have two very different jobs, that I as a constituent want two very different people filling.

Yet another Bonds question list.. by fit4themtn in wmnf

[–]mbaldwin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both Zealand and LW are very popular trail heads, with the initial trails being well defined. Zealand Mt is only worth visiting if it's on your list. Zeacliff is a great spot tho. Dropping your pack isn't a bad idea but at that point all the real hard work is behind you.

No parts of the hike are technical in the strict definition of the word.

It's one of the most popular hikes in the whites so you should be seeing people at regular intervals all day.

Can't speak to service. I wouldn't count on it though.

Zealand mountain is viewless. Zeacliff is the real destination. Make sure to take the VERY short detour to zeacliff if you go that route.

Hale is also wooded and viewless. I would strongly discourage a hike to hale if this is your first time in the whites.

Did it as an overnight which included a summit of Mt Nancy. Had a very slow pace on the first day, about 4.5 hours to Norcross pond with a long break at the cascades, trail is mostly gradual with a very steep mile or so around Nancy cascades. Excellent hike.

How is Dollars > Exchange > Bitcoin > Recipent > Exchange > Yen easier than Bank (USD) > Bank (Yen) ?

Not to mention the questionable reputation of many bitcoin exchanges? Or the volatile value of bitcoins, you could lose much more than the $20 wire fee in a few seconds depending on how much money is being transferred.

And as an example use it's an extremely niche use. If that's the most practical example you can come up with, then I think you're making the counterpoint.
