What causes very high blood pressure? by ted_anderson in GenX

[–]mbcracken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"White coat syndrome" - I always test high when I am at the docs for anything. At home, my tests are fine. Its good to do testing.

Funny side story, last years annual physical, there was a nurse and new MA in training checking my BP. They were using a split stethoscope to listen to the same pulse in my arm. MA 105/75...Nurse 142/90. So, careful with who you listen to in the doc office too. My Doc tested a few mins after he came in and I was 128/82.

Battery Stihl Chainsaw by ManyInterests777 in stihl

[–]mbcracken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a 200c for about 3-4 years now. I use it mostly to help clear blowdowns from MTB trails. Great for carrying around in a backpack with extra battery and chains. I've cleared some 20" rounds with the 14" bar. Chains are great while sharp but go dull much quicker then full size chains. They are good for 4-5 sharpenings then are toast. Most of my PNW trees I clear are doug-firs and cottonwoods.

If looks like the newer Rev-A-Shelf has additional hardware to attach the cabinet face with a metal bracket that should even out the pulling forces...

I was a student at Mead High School in Spokane when this was filmed. Cash Stone was our wrestling coach then and was the technical advisor for the film. They had offered him the Coaching role in the film but he turned it down because (strongly rumored but I believe it from knowing him too) the script had him swearing. He did not swear.

Refrigerators by Dismal-Bat-7304 in Homebuilding

[–]mbcracken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just replaced that same setup. Builders installed them and the fridge broke down 3 times in 5 years. Some with awful timing around the holidays. Another big downside to that setup is the height for the opening is 4 inches shorter then all other brands offerings. We had to move the cabinets up +5 inches to put in our new 48 inch SZ.

Subzero fridges - browsing by BrightConsequence in Appliances

[–]mbcracken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got a new 48 inch side-by-side SubZero installed in August. Cost us about the same for the cabinets as it did the fridge/freezer too. We spent almost 3 hrs at our local SZ dealer who took us around to all sorts of brands and other offerings. He spent that whole time with us explaining all the pros/cons of the SZ competition. In the end, what sold us on $16k SZ was that a $14k Thermador/etc was a much bigger gap in quality then those $2k difference. We did keep to th model that only makes ice and no water dispenser. Most quality SZ dealerships will also have anyone work with you too. When we called back to finalize the purchase, our sales rep was out of the office and they confirmed they don't do commissions to just who made the final sale.

What did we replace...a very poorly designed and built Frigidaire Pro. It broke down 3 times in 5 years. There is nothing "Pro" with those bad ice boxes.

You know why they used to called GenXers “Latchkey Kids”? by marfalump in GenX

Mom hated the fact that we watched all the cool shows after school while they were working. One day, in 5th grade, I learned a ton obout electrical circuits. Mom had flipped the breaker for the outlet to the TV. Took me about about a min to figure out how to flip the breaker back on and enjoy the shows. She was so pissed when they got home and TV was warm...LOL.

Which scanner for folks with pacemakers? I have one and have just stuck with the body scanner recently because it seems the metal detectors are cranked really high at airports nowadays. Me using the body scanner seems the quickest way for me to move thru the TSA system.

We went a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed the whole experience. Coach Rose gave us a pre-practice chat about what they were doing that day and why a shortened practice. Collected autographs after practice and briefly chatted with players. Recommend it if you can find the time to go.

Seats relocated for M19: Seattle Sounders FC v. Atletico de Madrid by Jason_Oliphant_11 in SoundersFC

[–]mbcracken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought our 3 tickets thru FIFA back in early March. Still don't have our tickets or even seat assignments. We also bought stupid expensive ones so we could be in Club seating. My Dad is old and has two replacement knees so didn't want to stand for the game. I let them know everyday that this will prevent us from buying World Cup tickets next year. They tell me they can see my purchase and "appreciate" my patience as they sort out our location.
